Summary: When my computer was down I asked my IT support guy to load all my back-ups from my Seagate drive onto another machine while I got my main computer fixed. We could see all my files they were in there but it refused to down load them... He's an expert and he tried everything for 3 hours to get it to work.. It could have been a major disaster as I hadn't made any other back-ups thinking this would be reliable but fortunately my computer was eventually fixed after 2 weeks..
Summary: Like other reviewers, my Backup Plus has just given up the ghost after only four months. The only reason I can figure is that my Macbook Pro went to sleep with the hard drive plugged in. Now it just beeps at me and is not recognised on laptop. Seagate's support is practically useless. Bought this one as had previous issues with other makes. Seems they are all as bad as each other!
Summary: Have found a major flaw with the Seagate backup plus external hard drive. My laptop was recently reset to factory settings using Windows 7 recovery disks to try to sort out a few minor glitches. Before doing the reset I bought a Seagate backup plus and backed up my files using the continuous backup option for a few days. After my laptop had been reset and Windows 7 reinstalled I tried to recover my files from the Seagate backup plus.
Summary: I bought it to keep all my family photos and films on it. Used it for 5 months and suddenly the hard drive did not work anymore. Never dropped it and used it very carefully. It has 2 years Seagate warranty so sending it back for exchange. Lost all my data. Seagate wanted extra 350 to recover all data. Never expected so bad quality from this make.
Summary: Mine stopped working after uploading just a gig onto its supposed state of the arts 1TB memory. The light didn't come on, no disc image was mounted and it just beeped pathetically at me like the piece of crap that it is. I even attempte to get in touch with the seller, leaving both email and telephone number...no response at all...I urge everyone not to purchase anything from this seller.
Summary: Good design, lightweight and fast USB 3 connection. However, it failed after 5 months. Rather than return for a replacement and lose the data, I extracted the HDD from the casing and got it to work using a cheap ICY case which suggested that the connector in the Seagate unit was at fault. Never rely on one HDD for backup.
Summary: I couldn't get the drive to back up my entire computer, so I ended up just backing up parts of my computer. Had a hard drive crash a month later. Replaced the drive, but couldn't access backedup files on Seagate. If I hadn't used a secondary backup HD to be sure, I would have lost everything. I would not recommend this product.
Summary: I bought this drive for my daughter to use to back up photos on her MacBook pro. After downloading approx. 10,000 photos the drive stopped functioning. I am now faced with paying for the data to be recovered from the drive. Amazon have offered a full refund but I will be out of pocket. Seagate's response has been less than helpful.
