Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive Review
31 March 2013
Summary: Seagate has two capacities for the Indian market – 500GB priced at Rs 5,600 and 1TB priced at Rs 7,700. It’s expensive by a few hundred rupees than portable USB 3.0 hard drive by other brands, but the premium is quite justified by the useful backup software and the option to swap to FireWire 800 and Thunderbolt interfaces.
Conclusion: Just keep in mind that whichever drive you’re using to back up your files, there’s always a chance that your backup drive itself will fail, as well. Those who really need to make sure their data is protected should take advantage of one of the many free cloud-based storage solutions to back up their most important files, and keep a local copy of everything on a dual-drive redundant RAID solution that backs up everything twice onto two separate drives.
Pros: Fast performance, Flexible interface, including Thunderbolt option, Easy-to-use backup software, Interoperable between Macs and PCs, Available in four colors
Cons: Social-backup software has some crucial Facebook limitations, Drive shell looks like metal, but is really plastic

Summary: The Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive comes with software that can backup your Facebook and Flickr photos in addition to your computer's data. However, the implementation of that feature could be better and some other aspects of the software need to be worked on, too. It's a quick and quiet drive though, and also very light.
Pros: Quick performance, Easy to use, Changeable interface
Cons: The Dashboard software interface needs some work, Facebook and Flickr uploads failed, Flickr backups restricted to the 'large' photo size

Test: Seagate Backup Plus 1TB (STBU1000200) (Externe Festplatte 2,5 Zoll)

Test: Seagate Backup Plus STBU500203 500GB (Externe Festplatte 2,5 Zoll)
9 March 2013
