Summary: I have three of these for my 2011 iMac. They plug into the thunderbolt port and have the ability to add SSD without the difficult process of removing the screen. I also have one of their Goflex drives and it is speedy, as well.
Summary: Lovely little add on if you have an older GoFlex external drive and want to boost it up to modern USB 3.0 standards. Snap off the old base, put this one on, plug into a 3.0 connector or hub and watch your speeds zoom. The best kind of engineering: You just use it and it works. Major praise to SeaGate for making a cheap way to keep a drive up to date without tossing the whole thing out or having to redo anything whatsoever..
Does exactly what it's supposed to do...a real lifesaver!

Summary: Perfect! After over 2 years (4 months out of warranty!) my Seagate GoFlex 2 TB drive started cutting in & out. I tried several other USB 3 cables as well as other USB ports on my PC...but the problem persisted. All this with over 1.3 TB of my data on it! After calling Seagate's tech support, the rep diagnosed the problem and recommended I get an STAE106 adapter, unplug my current one and swap it out for the old one on my unit (newer Seagate external HDs don't have a...
Summary: Bought this to replace the stock USB 2.0 connector. This one is so much better for a few reasons. First, you realize USB 3.0 speeds of around 10X faster, so it's noticeably faster for sure. Second, this one is actually smart where if your computer is asleep, the drive turns off. And not the off where the drive is still actually on, but actually off when not in use. I also think this has something to do with not using Seagate's software which is kinda terrible.

Summary: A great item to have but it becomes useless if you have 3.5 HDD to use. Fine with smaller drives (2.5) but if you are going to buy one, you better get the desktop that serves you to daisy chain Thunderbolt devices and it can take all sizes. ;) If you need one portable unit, this is the one as long as you have SSD drives to work with or just buy the LaCie USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt that is a priceless storage.
Summary: A good, reliable drive. I use it to back up my iMac, having added a Lightning Bolt adapter. The 3TB drive gives me extra room to back up the 1TB internal drive in my iMac, although I only have about 400GB of data on it.
