Very flexible: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB USB 3.0 review
2 July 2012
Excerpt: The FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB USB 3.0 is the desktop variant of the GoFlex Ultra-portable and it boasts the same GoFlex technology: the base of the drive can be detached and replaced with one that supports eSATA FireWire or Thunderbolt. None of those will likely improve the performance of the drive although they may make it more compatible with some systems especially Apple Macs and certain NAS devices and PCs that support eSATA but not USB 3.0.

Pros: Faster than FireWire 800, Much faster than USB 2.0, Cheapest route to external Thunderbolt drive, Acceptable price, Bus powered for portability, Compatible with all SATA 2.5" HDDs
Cons: Not significantly faster than FireWire 800, One Thunderbolt port, no daisy-chaining, Still must buy Thunderbolt cable, Not as fast as dual-HDD RAID setups (but admittedly cheaper)
Summary: Seagate GoFlex Satellite is a great companion to your tablets and smartphones which have a limited storage capacity. However, pricing of Rs. 11,500 is still quite high for what is essentially a 500 GB capacity drive - we'd advise you wait till prices drop to sensible levels.
Pros: Easy to configure, Sufficient battery life, Easy-to-use app
Cons: Drive heats up inside a bag, On a desktop, content is downloaded and not streamed
Excerpt: The Seagate GoFlex Turbo is an external hard drive that makes use of the fastest USB 3.0 connectivity, which is still rare these days. It has a rugged design and a solid selection of utilities to make using this drive as easy as possible. The only downside is the price, which is a little high for only 500GB of storage.
Pros: Slim, robust design, Handy set of applications, USB 3.0, eSATA, FireWire 800 connectivity
Cons: Slightly overpriced, Below average data speeds
Summary: If you are out in the market to look for the highest capacity portable drive, Seagate GoFlex Ultraportable is right up your alley. But the high capacity comes at a price of around Rs.8.94 per GB which is comparatively higher than WD My Passport Essential SE and ADATA Classic CH11. But its performance is better than both of its competitors and you also get the option to use USB 3.0, eSATA and FireWire ports if you have them on your motherboard.
Pros: Very high capacity for a portable drive, Ability to change GoFlex adapter to FireWire or eSATA ports
