Summary: I've been happy with this thing so far. It just sits there as my time machine and I never touch it or mess with it, it just exists and works. All I do is dust the thing off. I have had better luck with this seagate than a western digital mybook that sits right next to it.
Summary: Used this drive to automatically backup my laptop data via Time Machine. Worked seamlessly for months. Never left my office. Now the disk will not mount on the deskptop. Disk Utility says the disk is damaged & to try a repair. Repair is unable to mount the disk to start the repair. Urgh! You get what you pay for. My next external hard drive will be specifically for the mac & I will NOT purchase seagate.
Pros: Looks great on the surface. Worked well for 6 mos
Cons: - Stopped Working after 6 mos, - Box say "For PC & Mac", - My backup data is gone
Summary: ok, so this drive worked great. it had me all convinced that this was an awesome drive for an awesome guy! right?!?! WRONG...... as i said, after a couple years this drive decided to not mount. ok, nothing too out of the ordinary. i restart my cpu and re plug it back in... nothing....
Summary: another mythic "mac compatible" product to avoid. why waste your money on this junk when there are excellent alternatives? very strongly unrecommended.
Pros: there are none of note, at least for this mac user. that half-star rating should be actually be zero. pity we can't award "minus stars"...
Cons: this drive is very poorly designed for mac use; an accidental disconnect sans eject ruins it. repairing it is nearly impossible. other reviews confirm it has memory issues (can a drive have Alzheimer's?). it is, in general, a rather clueless waste.
Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Pro FireWire 800 USB 2.0 Ultra
Deborah Gominiak, Amazon
17 February 2012
Summary: I purchased this for my son to use at college. He is very happy with the product, its portability and ability/ease to use. He has recommened it to other students. The company was very prompt in delivery and it was here within 48 hours.
Summary: For me, this drive is somewhere between "OK" and "I like it," and the lower end of that scale is due to comparisons to my other external USB hard drive from Toshiba (a 1TB Canvio USB 2.0 that I got for under $100 last summer, with the USB 3.0 versions being about that price now). The Canvio is a bit smaller, has more capacity, and costs a lot less - but it only has one connection type. I'm mostly a USB user, so keep that in mind when it comes to my opinion of this drive.
Very good performance if it is been used with thunderbolt adapter
14 March 2011
Summary: Very good performance... Speed: Im using it with thunderbolt portable adapter and the speed is good about 99MB Write /103 MB Read. Not bad for 2.5" portable hard drive. Performance: very stable Im running my virtual machines from it for at least 7 to 8 hours a day, and it didn't disconnect even once.
