So far so good

Summary: I've been happy with this thing so far. It just sits there as my time machine and I never touch it or mess with it, it just exists and works. All I do is dust the thing off. I have had better luck with this seagate than a western digital mybook that sits right next to it.
Summary: Using Apple Mac mini and Macbook Pro computers at home, we decided to use Apple Time Machine OS X feature with Seagate GoFlex units, one is 500 GB and the other 750 GB, connected with firewire 800 adapter. Units work perfect out of the box and you just practically forget they are there. Great purchase at a very good price. Highly recommended.
Pros: there are none of note, at least for this mac user. that half-star rating should be actually be zero. pity we can't award "minus stars"...
Cons: this drive is very poorly designed for mac use; an accidental disconnect sans eject ruins it. repairing it is nearly impossible. other reviews confirm it has memory issues (can a drive have Alzheimer's?). it is, in general, a rather clueless waste.

Summary: I purchased this for my son to use at college. He is very happy with the product, its portability and ability/ease to use. He has recommened it to other students. The company was very prompt in delivery and it was here within 48 hours.
Summary: I was a little anxious about purchasing this, especially with all the comments about the firewire connections becoming so hot while in use. I have an Imac with a 930GB harddrive, a core 2 duo 3.06Ghz processor and 4GB ram. I'm running OSX 10.5.8. I have several thousand songs in my Itunes folder and tons of e-books, so I was really concerned about backing all that up just in case. Hate to lose all that and have start from scratch. Already been through that once.
