9 October 2011
Summary: Final Thoughts
When it comes down to choosing an external hard drive there are only a few choices and Seagate is one of them. The FreeAgent GoFlex drive does offer some great features that will definitely make it a contender.
The drive and base are not much larger than the actual drive the is inside the casing. This means it is not going to take up that much space on your desk. We all value desk space so this is a place.
Pros: Stylish and compact design, Ability to use multiple bases, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, Good software package

Conclusion: There's a lot to be said about Seagate's family of FreeAgent GoFlexhard drives. Instead of including support for a handful of interfaces that someone may or may not use, Seagate has given users the ability to upgrade their hard drive to meet their performance needs. The GoFlex Desk takes full advantage of this new technology. This desktop hard drive ships with a USB 2.0 adapter but can easily be upgraded to USB 3.0 or FireWire 800.
Pros: 2TB capacity, Upgradable to USB 3.0 or FireWire 800, Fast transfer rates with optional USB 3.0 adapter, Good looking design, Illuminated capacity gauge, Includes backup software with encryption, Includes NTFS driver for Mac
Cons: Bundled Memeo AutoSync software is 30 day trial, Only a 2 year warranty
Excerpt: These days, buying a hard drive isn’t just about capacity. More and more consumers are taking design into consideration. After all, who wants an ugly-looking device on his desk, when a more aesthetically pleasing one will do the same job? At the same time, with the current economic climate, no one is rushing to drop major bucks on something just because it looks pretty.
