Excellent speed and design, A+++
14 April 2011
Summary: Purchased because a friend recommended it and he was right. Excellent speed with firwire and not bad with usb. Beautiful design, but the case was not finished properly and the glue from the leather was hard to take off.
Summary: I have had 5 similar drives, ranging from 250 to 500 GB made by ADATA, Seagate and IOMEGA, some in plastic and one in metal casing. The style, weight and size of this FreeAgent are the features I like. Ever since I bought its small(250 GB) silver sibling, I am always fond of the FreeAgent series.
Pros: -thin -light -inexpensive -small -use one and only USB port
Cons: -LED light is too subtle to be noticed during activities -there are cheaper 2.5" external hard drives but not as small and thin -quiet
Summary: Although not in the product description, a simple slipcase and a Go Dock already come with this hard drive. I bought the two items suggested as additional purchases, but am returning them. Unless you need another portable dock or a nicer, full coverage case, you don't need to buy these items.
Summary: This is a top performing drive no question about it. The 5 year warranty alone should separate it from the pack and be a top selling point considering most hard drive manufacturers offer 2/3 years.
Summary: The first backup was automatic and everything seemed OK, but then the problems began. Suddenly this 500 GB storage device was all filled up, even though my Macbook Pro computer was brand new, and I had only done one backup.
Summary: i used Easeus partition master to reformat 2 fat 32 partitions for strictly movies/documents and one for music so i could take it in my ride on long drives.. if you plan on using it with a highend usb drive capable deck i suggest using no more than 100G as it can take some time for the CD player to...
Pros: small enough to fit in your pocket good transfer rates(gave it a 4 star because its 5400).. not a power hungry drive i can power it easily with my kenwood x991.. very quiet never gets hot.. this means a well balanced and good heat sink/cooling.. left on for hours watching moves back to back no pr...
Cons: larger than most 2.5s that are larger in storage space.. texture of the driver can be slippery make sure you get a case...
Summary: This is a very, very fast, very professional looking drive. It has all the right connectivity options and connectors included right in the box. However, it is not capable of keeping itself within normal operating temperatures in a normal air conditioned office environment.
Seems good but I'm disappointed with advertised space.

Summary: seems great so far the only down side is that it actually only stores about 595gb not anywhere near 640gb advertised now I know most memory devices lose some space due to formatting and software but this is a bit too much. I am also a bit confused about how the software works.
