    BOUGHT A 2T SEAGATE UNIT A YEAR AGO. STARTED CLICKING, CALLED TECH SUPPORT WHO SAID SEND IT BACK IN AND WELL REPLACE IT. SEAGATE REPLACED IT WITH A DIFFERENT UNIT THAT HAD BEEN REFURBISHED. WOULD ANYONE LOAD ALL OF THEIR MOST PRECIOUS STUFF ONTO A REFURBISHED UNIT? I SPENT GOOD MONEY ON THIS UNIT AND THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SEND OUT A UNIT THATS ALREADY BEEN BROKEN AND REPAIRED. DONT PURCHASE ANY SEAGATE UNIT, YOULL BE DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT EVENTUALLY BREAKS DOWN. Read more

    This drive does NOT have hardware encryption according to Seagate, just optional software encryption. It also does not require a password to access the drive in fact, as soon as you plug it in all your files and folders are visible. Lastly, using software encryption slows the drive down. Read more

    • Faster than the USB 2.0 version. Works fine with my SIIG USB 3.0 card.
    • Not nearly as secure as the Maxtor BlackArmor 320 GB drive it replaces which has hardware data encryption and a password lock out feature.
