Seems flaky, may have blown out Thunderbolt port, doesn't work smoothly with my system

Summary: Bought this for a MBP but it wouldn't mount when I plugged it in. Turned out the Thunderbolt port was bad, but I had never used the port before so I'm not sure if it was working prior to plugging in the drive.
Summary: I really want to give this product more stars, because when it worked, it worked great... After about a year of use, the connection is constantly lost. I always properly eject the drive and it's always been stored safely in my bag with the cord removed and neatly wound, but regardless of my attempt...
Summary: It doesn't back up the hard drive on my apple desk top (2005). My son did more research and realized this is a common problem with this particular computer/backup interface. It WILL back up my husband's newer apple lap top, so no need to send it back, since we will use it.

Summary: Thin, sleek, simple to use, portable and dependable. The USB 3.0 cable is included. The problem is there is no 'cloud storage icon' in the Seagate Dashboard software - the Mac version of Seagate Dashboard doesn't have either the Cloud or the Protect features.
