Not The Drive In The Photo
Cal M, Argos
8 January 2015
Excerpt: Having purchased several of these drives in the past and being very happy with them, when i needed some more i decided to buy some more, however the picture is not the drive you actually receive, i purchased 4 drives over the christmas period 2 drives to use and 2 to back up, the drives are of a different design but the issue is with the part where the thin usb 3 cable goes into the drive, the cable keeps dropping out. Will not buy again.
Summary: I bought this one on January 2014 but use only for 20 days in total during this 6 moths time with my MacBook Pro. Now the drive has very big problem and lost partition, files, everything. I need to buy many application to repair the disk and recover the files including seagate application. I fall this one because of price. I also bought firewire 800 accessories to use with this hard drive. I did not get what I paid for.
Summary: It does not perform anywhere near to expectations. When backing-up its speed is hardly any faster than my previous usb2 version and yes I am using a new USB3 slot with the usb cable supplied by Seagate. When I put the problem to Seagate they said it wasn't their product, it must be something to do with my computer, I should try it on another computer. Not very helpful.
Summary: This is a fantastic drive with great read/write speeds, however, it disconnects every couple of hours or so. I've read online and I'm not the only person with this problem. I've done all kinds of suggestions, changing settings, changing the cable, etc. Nothing worked. I've already filled the drive with more things than I can back up to other places so I cannot return the drive. Disappointed.
Summary: Purchased this for an IMac (with a 1TB internal drive) that already has an Apple 2TB time capsule and a Hitachi 1TB G-Drive connected to it. First point is that it is noisy - the single Seagate drive is noisier than the other three drives combined. Second point is that as a drive it doesn't work out of the box, or at least it didn't for me.
