Summary: I bought this seagate because of their reputation and knowing I've enjoyed their drives without trouble in the past... Now they say the drive will not work with their dashboard unless it is directly connected to a computer! Go figure - if you want to get a drive to use as a cloud - I suggest a Western Digital...
Summary: Beware of this drive. Drive failed after first week of use. Drive would not spin up although base was powered. Needless to say the eleven laptops that were backup'ed on it will be redone. Company agreed to replace drive after several phone bumps but at a cost. Learned a lesson on this one.
Summary: I was delighted to buy this desktop drive that can work on Mac and Windows. But unfortunately the drive stopped working within first 20 days. Not sure if this is a manufacturing defect or a design defect. But would like to return it and start searching for a better desktop drive.
Summary: This is a fantastic drive with great read/write speeds, however, it disconnects every couple of hours or so. I've read online and I'm not the only person with this problem. I've done all kinds of suggestions, changing settings, changing the cable, etc. Nothing worked. I've already filled the drive with more things than I can back up to other places so I cannot return the drive. Disappointed.
Summary: item is very sturdy built makes virtually no noise and on usb 3 is the fastest drive I have seen however I wanted it as a media back up to use in a media player set up which requires usb 2 compatability checked everywhere this has it according to everything I could find however on my cyclone media box nothing would not work for love or money so I believe in my opinion that the usb2 compatable is not for everything which is why I only gave 2 stars
