  • Summary: We bought this drive as a gift to my dad for Christmas. His 5 year old Western Digital died and he was in need of something to replace it. This drive was perfect for his needs and even featured the automatic backup utility. The only complaint I would have with the software is that if your computer goes to sleep, the backup stops.

  • Summary: About 4 years ago I bought a Maxor external hard drive (160gb) and I still use it. Once I ran out of room I wanted to get another Maxor but after doing some research, I found out they were bought out by Seagate so I checked out what they had to offer. I purchased one with 1tb and it was great until I dropped it which is why I had to get this one. I expect it to be as good as my Maxor and my first Seagate.

  • Summary: Once I set it up as a Time Machine for Mac, it did not want to act as a flash drive so that I could plug it into my old desktop to transfer pictures and documents.

  • Summary: After 30 days use, as backup for a MacMini (w factory upgrade to 500gb drive and doubled memory...running Snow Leopard) I have conflicts with my comcast norton antivirus, it's constantly trying to scan the drive for malware etc. It's mostly noticable when on line with Chrome browser. I'm also getting ; backup error messages from mac software, indicating, the latest backup attempt failed. I'll do a full diagnostic and tuneup, and see if it changes issues.

Works on a Mac with certain precautions

  • Summary: I bought this to use on my Macbook running Lion to serve as a general backup drive, as well as to backup my music and pictures in separate files. Now it is working fine, but not after some hassles. Setup for a Mac appeared to be very simple. Just follow the on screen directions. Initially I could have set this up to use on both my Mac and PC (which is what I should have done--more about that later), but the on screen directions said that if I did that, then Time Machine...

  • Summary: I'm no computer whiz, for sure. I was very glad to be able to just plug in this device and go. Lost my hard drive a couple months ago, without backup,OUCH!, so REALLY wanted a good backup this time. Great price, too. I looked at many before choosing this one.

  • Summary: My old hard drive started to have problems so i urgently needed a new drive to recover my data into. The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex worked perfectly. The 3.0 interface helped transfer data quickly and efficiently. Its robust and fast. Even though my laptop does not have a USB 3.0 port, i can see that transfer rates are still higher than my earlier hard drive. Overall a Very Good purchase.
