very light use, no warning, gone

Pros: none really. Briefly held data.
Cons: 1st didn't work, RMA took FOREVER. 2nd one had enclosure that arrived malfunctioning. Transferred to another case. Transferred 3 TB to test, then 1TB for backup. Little to no use (maybe 50 hours), it's 7.31.13 No SMART warning, just quit working. babied it. Lesson: beware 1yr warranty. Samsung is...
Pros: simple to install, lightweight, on-off switch which some externals don't have, runs quiet and generally at a cool temperature.
Cons: Could have a fragile power cable. I have had the drive three days--on the third day it did not power on when used. Jiggled the power cord and it eventually worked again so I don't think it's something internal, but could be a potential warning sign of future problems.
Summary: I purchased mine about 3 years ago, used it for 9 to 12 months and then moved. This little beauty was put back into it's original box, boxed in a box, and left in that box for a year while I tried to remember which box I put it in.
Pros: When it worked it was fine, as fast as a USB 2.0 drive would be expected to be and wasn't excessively noisy or bright.
Cons: Not allot of actual use out of it. Why does it have something similar to a volume control dial for on / off? Maybe that was a brightness control for the cute little light under it.
Summary: I see this item is not even available any more, and I'm glad. I guess it's really true, you get what you pay for. Cheap price = short life, in this case.
Pros: This was a very low cost backup option when I purchased it in Oct. 2009, and it was primarly for back up. I liked it, it was quiet, and shut itself down to preserve platter life, etc.
Cons: Unfortunately, about 1 week ago (12/14/2011), it started making repetitive clicking noises and would not be recognized by the system. Also very unfortunately, I got a little too confident, and it had the "only" copy of many mp3's, and other important documents/files, etc. I know I had exposure by...
Pros: Looks Sleek Stays Cool On/Off Feature + LED control
Cons: Sort of died within the first week, Luckily I can RMA it for another one which I hope to have more success with. Just simply was doing a normal File transfer to it, and it just shut down mid transfer, and after that it won't turn back on. If I leave it unplugged say overnight I could get it to tu...
Summary: I guess it's still under manufacturer's warranty. However, it now has a complete unencrypted time machine backup of my primary system on it, and I don't want those floating around. I'm not sure if Samsung would give me a refund if I insist on destroying the drive before I send it in.
Pros: Attractive case. Worked until it today, when it started to make the click of death. Now it won't mount for more than a few seconds.
Summary: Beautiful, apparently well made unit. It holds two software programs which reside in two (virtual?) partitions. The first software does incremental backups, works well, and is self-explanatory. The second software is a large file-dump with an obligatory password; that one is called The SecretZone.
Summary: I have read similar things about the "Support" for Samsung monitors.
Pros: Beautiful, apparently well made drive.
Cons: Neither the ignorant and useless Samsung Support nor their own on-line documentation nor the internet have a clue as to the workings of one of their two resident software programs, namely The SecretZone, which will not accept any file or folder. I had to reformat, and partition the drive myself a...
Summary: After a few reconnect/disconnect. I've managed to get ahold of all my transferred files but yet, how can I be at peace in transferring important files? I almost lost 2gb of pictures and souvenirs...
Pros: Big storage, great look with the brushed metal.
Cons: I plugged it in, first 2 mins it gave me an error message. I figured it would be best to format first, which I did. I transferred 350gb overnight and in the morning, I made sure everything was fine. Two folders did not copy, something might have gone wrong so I've went over most transferred folde...
