Samsung S2 Portable HXMU010EA 1 TB: Good Things Often Come In Small Parcels
21 September 2013
Summary: When my Freecom external hard drive gave up the ghost I decided to go for a Samsung replacement. This was, in the first place, because I had years of great service from my Samsung Laptop. I had also researched Samsung Hard Drives and was much impressed with what I read, and as I was looking for a 1TB storage capacity I decided to opt for the HX-MU010EA Samsung S2 Portable External Hard drive.
Pros: High Performance; Compact; Portability; Easy Operation
Summary: Light, durable (mine has suffered a few knocks already and survives to tell the tale, thanks to the provided leather-look jacket) and big on storage. Slips neatly into a small bag or jacket pocket. Couldn't really ask for more, very happy.
Summary: I bought this item 1 year ago, suddenly stoped working without reason. Contact 3 different telephone numbers until I reach samsung support on 0080047324283 option 4 data recovery and they have quote me between 500-1300 GBP to get back the information. They could replace the item for a new one but why would I want a new item? I need all the information in the device not a new one and for this you have to pay and pay a lot.
Summary: This is an excellent piece of equipment...just take it out of the box and plug it in and away you go (I run Win 7). It's a very stylish and compact design so it fits in the laptop bag easily enough. I bought it to store my videos on, and it's 1TB size makes it perfect..
Summary: After having yet another time capsule die on me without warning, I decided to get one of these for my Time Machine backups instead. It's USB-powered so does not hog another power socket and require all that extra cabling. I have mine plugged into a powered USB hub which sits inside my desk drawer and is automatically powered on whenever the computer is on.
Summary: I got one of these for my parents as they recently bought a smart tv and wanted to be able to watch downloaded movies directly on the tv with out the bulk and mess of powered HDD's so this was perfect. This has more than enough space for their needs, I actually struggled to fill it with stuff that they would watch. The only thing that needed to be done was to format it to a FAT32 drive, which was straight forward using a tool I found online.
Summary: Product came well packaged and was very easy to connect and start running. Transfer speed is fast and it seems that for me, with just storing photos and holiday videos, it will take forever to fill. The blue light indicates that its working, and as long as you follow the instructions to safely remove hardware, you should have no problems whatsoever. For the extra few pounds its well worth buying the 1TB, instead of the 500GB models. would highly recommend this purchase.
