A lot of read errors after 6 months
10 August 2011
Summary: I bought the 640GB for my Panasonic G20 TV. It worked well for some months, but all of a sudden recordings started to fail. Shortly thereafter playbacks started acting up too. I hooked up the G2 to my computer, formatted it and ran some diagnostic SW, which reported a ton of read errors. I shipped it back to Samsung for repair. Was told that it could/would not be repaired, so I will get a new one. I hope I just got a lemon, and the new one will be fine.
Summary: I am using this with a Mac, and it performs as advertised. It feels very light. My only issue is that it doesn't seem to be recognized by Time Machine on a 2011 Macbook Air running Lion. It is recognized by the Air as a regular drive, and is recognized by my MacBook pro, both as a regular drive and by Time Machine. So this appears to be an issue between Lion and the drive, and not the drive.
Summary: Picked up one of these in the 500GB version and I would say it's definitely worth it. I've backed up all my videos and I'm putting other important documents/pictures on it as well. I paid $65 for mine. Bottom line: affordable, easy to use, good storage device. Would definitely recommend it.
Summary: I love, love, love this little drive. It is not only extremely small and thus very handy to take along in ones pocket. It also seems to be a bit faster than a couple of other portable HDD I own. I've had it for about two months now, and haven't had a negative remark about this little Samsung so far. Trying to figure out the capacity was the only difficulty on the Amazon website. It was well hidden, I have to say.
Summary: Looks very nice but the drive cant be put in other case when the USB will stop working, there fore if it breaks there is no way of saving data in case it breaks. I wouldnt go for samsung again, but only for this reason everything else is good Go to hell amazon with the stupid minimum word limit system that just makes reviewers angry that they cant say just what they want, lets fight against this by always mentioning it in reviews
Summary: I actually brought this from ebuyer. Delivery was free and I paid only £50 for it. I wish I had brought one sooner. As someone who owns a computer that only has 160 Gb internal hard drive my itunes files was 21.8Gb of that so I decided to buy this hard drive to make some room as I am about to start studying. I nhave a note book but would much prefer to use a full size desk top to do my work and at the moment I am unable to afford to buy a brand new computer.
Summary: Great little drive, smart looking, cool running and thanks to it's low power draw it only needs one usb port to power it! Has a concealed blue activity LED (one of the dots in pattern on the top) which is only visible as an LED when connected (you cant tell which one if it's off). Not USB 3 but a great little drive which is pretty quick anyway. Recommended!
Summary: Bought the 650GB model from a different retailer. Brilliant at first with good speeds, using it as a backup drive. Went to use it again a couple of months later where during copying it crashed and practically failed. Just about works but it's really slow. Would not recommend.
