Forget the wireless on Android
29 March 2014
Summary: This little device was a real eye opener to how poor an OS Android really is. On paper this thing should work flawlessly, but you MUST keep its app up and you cannot do ANYTHING on your mobile device while it is transferring, otherwise Android will time it out and put the app in cache, breaking your wireless transfer. If you were going to use it for movies like me Forget it. It's good as a mobile HD and nothing more and I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives.
Summary: wifi pass thru never worked. Tech support cannot make it work either, even with new firmware. The wifi pass thru never working, was the deal killer for me. Returned and did not exchanged for another one.
Summary: I thought this would be a great addition to connect our devices and share files, we have two iPhone 4S's and an iPad so in theory this can store a load of documents, images, films and so on that we could access from all devices... what a nice world that would be. First off I set the device up without connecting to our router to test it and all worked okay. Problem with that is you have to switch wi-fi networks to access your files or the internet - one or the other.
Not a hard drive extension for Apple purchased movies
16 February 2013
Summary: I will save you sometime, those who received a free drive and wrote a review did not review Digital Rights Management – not one reviewer who received a free drive stated or noted that you cannot play Apple purchased movies on this drive. If you are like me and you purchase movies from Apple and you have to manage the 16 / 32 / 64 gig of data space - you are looking for a wi drive that will stream apple movies to your ipad.
Summary: While the device works with my ipad and I can access movies as advertised that I have put on my guantlet....the APP that goes with it does not work with either of my ipods. So I can not access movies from the gauntlet hard drive with them. Patriot says they are working on the ipod problem... But I haven't seen any updates in the app to remedy the problem. I didn't purchase this as a spare drive. The wifi is why I purchased it.
