Summary: This drive is just fine -- it's simply another external (powered) USB hard drive. I've used Western Digital "MyBook" and SimpleTech "Signature Mini" and various Iomega removable hard drives. They all do fine, until they die at some point. You don't want to depend on using the software that ships with any of these drives -- the "one-click" button really isn't necessary either, more a gimmick.
Summary: I have 4 of these (1 for each computer in my family) and they all work just perfectly together. they are all linked through the home network, and have no problems together. Seagate made a good Hard Drive Here.....i'd give it 10 stars if i could...
Summary: We have a small office and 3 Maxtor One Touches (2 x 250GB + 1 x 750GB). They are super easy to setup and use. Software is also easy to configure. I recently used one to move the contents of a hard drive to a new computer. It also works well as additional external hard drive space.
Summary: I was a little hesitant at first about purchasing this product. Mainly because there were quite a few reviews that I came across that reported that they had major concerns about the device. However I came to the conclusion, after a lot of searching, that just about every external hard drive that is on the market has similar reviews.
Summary: I bought two of these for my Apple TV Library. Raided them (formatted them as one, 1.5 TB External Hard Drive) on my iMac. It took 77 Hours of continuous use to copy over all of my iTunes music, movies and TV Shows. I've been using them now for two months and have not had a single problem. I highly recommend these Hard Drives. I am so impressed with them that I have purchased a 1 TB drive also.
Summary: I am a tech that has been working with maxtor drives for 10+ years and never had a problem with any of them. This is my first ext. maxtor drive though. I recommend that you use firewire, it is a lot faster then usb2.0. The transfer rate will let you play movies, music, etc. right off the drive.
