Summary: The alleged high speed throughput for this family of drives is only for the 250MB/500MB version(s), which are SSD's. The 1TB and 2TB drives use old, slow traditional rotating drives and get (at best) 90 MB/S. False advertising and misleading specifications. Stay away.
Summary: I bought this hard drive with high hopes after a couple of people suggested it. I use it for all of my school files and i transport it back and forth between home and school. I have had it for 7 months and it stopped working.
Summary: This is not a plug-and-play drive that works like a normal USB stick. It will not work (at all) unless you install LaCie's software for it, which is not optional. Besides taking up GBs (!) of space on the hard drive, the software probably is loaded with all sorts of NSA backdoors.
They are notorious across campus as the worst purchase you will make your first year

Summary: My school has some kind of contract with LaCie, in which, they tell all incoming freshman that this is one of the required materials they must buy before starting class. They are notorious across campus as the worst purchase you will make your first year.
Summary: Worst purchase I have made. Software is terrible. It hums and whistles when in use. It is the slowest most complicated device I have ever used. Works terribly with both my Mac and PC. I have reached out to every tech guru that I know to simplify and stream line putting files on this thing.
I do not think it is like a Time Machine that constantly backs itself up regularly

Summary: Can't get it to work! No directions anywhere, even on the internet. I do not think it is like a Time Machine that constantly backs itself up regularly. You must have to do it manually– and who has time for that! To set it up it takes about 15 minutes of things you have to click and complete on line.
Summary: I have had this drive for less than a year and it crashed and took all my data with it. This is an incredibly expensive back-up drive and one has to put a lot of trust with it in order store nearly 30 years of information on it. I am devastated!
Summary: Bad Product, Worse Company! Drive failed in a less than a month (used for backups only, iMAC). Tried company support, but after multiple calls during 7am-5pm PT, no one ever answered (17-30 minutes on hold each call). I've lost all of my backups and no support.
