I do not think it is like a Time Machine that constantly backs itself up regularly

Summary: Can't get it to work! No directions anywhere, even on the internet. I do not think it is like a Time Machine that constantly backs itself up regularly. You must have to do it manually– and who has time for that! To set it up it takes about 15 minutes of things you have to click and complete on line. Pain! Definitely not Plug-N-Play! I wanted it cause of the shock absorption if it fell. I ended up buying another Passport by WD, which I have always been happy with.
Summary: I have had this drive for less than a year and it crashed and took all my data with it. This is an incredibly expensive back-up drive and one has to put a lot of trust with it in order store nearly 30 years of information on it. I am devastated!
I regret this purchase so much I can't even explain

Summary: I bought this because many friends recommended it. After only a week it started to corrupt all the files I saved. I've lost weeks of work and had to buy a different drive to back up everything. I ended up losing all my data and having to hire a data recovery software. I'll probably spend months re-organizing all my company's history again. Support was slow and they couldn't care less.
Summary: Bad Product, Worse Company! Drive failed in a less than a month (used for backups only, iMAC). Tried company support, but after multiple calls during 7am-5pm PT, no one ever answered (17-30 minutes on hold each call). I've lost all of my backups and no support. I've wasted enough time troubleshooting and will purchase a backup drive from another company.
Summary: This is the 2nd LaCie drive Ive purchased and the 2nd one I've had that has crashed! So annoyed with this product. I can definitely say I will not be wasting any more money on them. I always eject the drive properly but because the chord is either defective or just not made very well it constantly slips out of the drive (it stays in on the Mac end) causing me to get the "you did not eject properly" error.
Summary: AVOID at all cost !!! professional photographer here. This drive is NOT reliable. It broke down and failed after only 3 months of usage. Drives at this price point should not just break only after a few months.
Summary: I don't use this drive more than 10-15 minutes. Today I use to show some pictures to my mom for about 10 minutes. The drive eject itself and the speed decrease as well. I plug back in but still do the same thing if you transfer file. I notice that if you transfer about 80gb at one time. The drive will get very hot and eject itself without warming. However, the USB3 work fine and very fast. The speed of USB3 stay the same even when the drive is hot.
Summary: I tried to order the la cie drive WITHOUT the attached thunderbolt cable, as this picture shows, but alas, the pic does not match the product, and instead of a thunderbolt port, I get a couple of flimsy, too short cables. Now I have to buy extensions, and hope they don't break. I am disappointed, but I know if I try to return them and get what I want, I won't get what I want. Live and learn!
