The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 is an external hard drive that has a 500 GB capacity and supports USB 3.0 port (USB 2.0-compatible) interface with up to 5GBits/s transfer rate. It has a maximum drop height of 2.2 m / 86.6 in. in non-operating mode (dropping is not recommended in operating mode) and comes with LaCie Backup Assistant and LaCie Setup Assistant. Measuring 90 x 28 x 145 mm / 3.5 x 1 x 5.7 inch and weighing 241 g / 8.5 oz, the unit is compatible with a computer with a USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port, and requires high-speed internet for online storage. It is also compatible with Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, Windows 7 / Mac® OS X 10.5, 10.6 (in USB 2.0 only) operating system and requires a minimum free disk space of 600 MB, The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 Hard Disk comes with a USB 3.0 cable (USB 2.0 compatible), USB power-sharing cable, Quick Install Guide, User Manual, LaCie Backup Assistant (Windows and Mac) and LaCie Setup Assistant. It is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.

The LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 is an external hard disk drive that supports USB 3.0 transfer rates of up to 5 GBits per second and features a 500GB (7200 rpm) capacity. The unit comes with a bus–powered cable and is designed with rubber bumpers and a shock–proof exterior, in a rugged form factor that is drop resistant up to 2.2 meters. This form factor protects data. The external hard disk drive also comes with a software bundle for formatting and backup, and up to 10GB secure online storage included for one year. Design by Neil Poulton, the rugged USB 3.0 allows users to transfer data like HD movies and pictures with optimized speeds, while the connector provides power to devices and allows peripherals to function with bus–power for mobility.
