Summary: I needed it to reinstall an internal hard drive. Not knowing much about computers I guess it worked ok. The technician was pleased with it. I'm changing my review on this product! I've had it for six months and it quit. I wanted to send it back and get a replacement but, Amazon said it would have had to been done in May. Not much of a window.
Summary: I bought this product a couple years ago while I was living in London while working on my master's degree. (I threw in the bit about London because let's just say it has something to do with how I perceive the value of this product for the money it cost. It was expensive.) This was before I discovered Dropbox, so I would use the HD to save my school files since I would often work at the school computer labs and then continue to work at home.
I Love the Size, Feel. Look, but looks aren't everything...Before I speak, I want You to know I love My LaCie External HDDs

Summary: With that said, on the actual drive, You plug in this flat plug that I think is exclusive for LaCie Products. I've never seen one of these styled plugs that go into the Drive itself on any of My other Electronics. LaCie had made one big IMPORTANT upgrade on the Rikikis by extending this data cable. It's sucks having a 4 inch data cable and having it slip off the arm of the couch, Effin up the backup Ur running, as were the norm on previous models.
Summary: When pulling the Rikiki out of my bag, many friends have commented on how nice the hard drive looks with its sleek brushed aluminum. As other reviewers complained, the barely flexible, flat cable is too short. However, it's part of the aesthetic design that can easily be replaced by another USB cable out of your drawer. And the fact that this one can run on the single USB without extra power needed is convenient for use with my macbook.
Summary: Was so excited to finally have USB 3.0 for Mac. But as you'll see their are some issues. Now you can download a driver from Lacie so that you can attach these along with their PCI-E usb 3.0 cards or their usb 3.0 expresscard/34 to your Mac ... It's all a fairly good idea. Be warned ahead of time a few things!!!
Summary: After I did a great deal of searching for a hard drive that could be used between a Mac and a PC, I decided this was the one even though it had gotton not so great reviews. People warned me about the edges being sharp which they are, and the fact that the USB cord was too short which it was. How any company can supply a 7.75 inch cord is beyond me.
Summary: This drive is perfect for a person with a laptop that needs (as in my case) lots of space for their music and photo files. I like the fact that in addition to having a tiny footprint, it is powered by a USB port. It is fast and quiet. The only drawback in the tiny USB cable supplied. Too small!
