Nice drive but falls short

  • Excerpt: I purchased this to backup my photos after a recent crash. Easy setup sleek, quiet, compact. Ran the genie software for the initial backup and noticed the file counts between source and target we off. Did it a second time because my PC had gone to sleep during the first pass...same issue. Checked the logs for the backup and noticed that it was excluding some files (it tagged them as not unique)....."whiskey tango foxtrot".
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Compact, Easy To Set Up, High Capacity, Portable, Quiet
  • Cons: Annoying Backup Software, Unreliable

  • Excerpt: I use two of these hard drives and mirror them with Super Duper. I travel with them and they are very durable. Highly recommend. If they were smaller I would love them even more.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use
  • Cons: Noisy

  • Summary: While it looks really nice, the HD itself isn't as impressive as it looks. I've had issues with LaCie before, but thought I'd give it another chance because I wanted to get into the TB drives. If LaCie does honor the "2 year guarantee" I won't get the pleasure of knowing. My warranty was up in June, now it's October and the drive is done. I've got 1.5TB of files on the drive and there's no way to get this data off.

Porsche 4TB P'9230 USB 3.0 Hard Drive

8 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I purchased the Porsche 4TB Hard Drive by LaCie recently, so I haven't been able to get a complete grasp of the product, which is the only reason I'm giving this product 4 stars. But from what I have experienced, I really like it. The instillation was extremely simple, the hard drive came with multiple plug ins to accommodate whatever country one is in (it plugs into the wall as well as the computer).

  • Excerpt: I have several of these Lacie Porsche drives and they are all great. This was my first 4TB one and I'm super happy about the extra TB of storage. Price is ideal for a reliable desktop drive. I have all three stacked on my work desk and they look clean and sleek and give me a total of 10TB of storage.

Nice

  • Summary: I finally decided to purchase a replacement drive for my aging (but still active) Iomega external drive. This LaCie has a power on light up front and is USB 3.0 (and 2.0 compatible). I'm still using my Iomega while I'm using the LaCie has the "second" backup device. The only thing I don't care for is its backup program--not especially useful for me, but it's there if I need it. Nice buy from Amazon and free shipping with Prime.
