Mixed review

Marc D. Richter, Amazon
10 January 2014
  • Summary: I have 2 of the LaCie Porsche drives and liked them in the past. Unfortunately my computer doesn't even recognize this drive any longer after 60 days? Not thrilled.

Samsung TV wont see it

Mathew H., Newegg
17 September 2013
  • Summary: The sole reason I bought this was to house movies to be accessed through my tv like a jukebox. The tv couldn't recognize it. Not sure if that's the fault of the newer tv, or the hard drive. Other drives work.
  • Pros: Does everything it says it will... with s3x appeal
  • Cons: Havent found anything major, but the quality in the connections are lacking... just like the other reviews said. Doesn't work with my Samsung PN51E450.

Performed well while it lasted

JT, Amazon
4 September 2013
  • Summary: Hooked this up to my 27" iMac. Easy to set up with Time Machine and worked great till about a month ago. It still powered up, but just spun constantly while no longer backing anything up. So am replacing it with a 2TB LaCie Minimus.

Loved the size and sturdiness but thermal failure after 3 weeks

Fkee "Fkee", Amazon
21 September 2012
  • Summary: It seemed to be a great small compact disk and quiet. However after backing up 350GB for a new computer swap it developed an intermittent thermal failure which caused it to drop and request reformatting. I think the USB interface was culprit or possibly just a loose internal cable.

Great device but...

Andrea, Amazon
3 May 2012
  • Summary: This is a great external drive, have a nice design, smooth interface with Macs. However, it has a less than 5" cable, it is really 'minimus' that's why I can't rate it higher.

A Step Up

Anonymous, Newegg
10 October 2011
  • Summary: It seems a huge amount of hard drives here @ Newegg are being returned for RMA. I can only wonder if the bad packaging on NE's part (c'mon, a thin piece of brown paper on one side of the shipping box is going to protect a hard drive from shipping bumps/drops??
  • Pros: First time LaCie customer here.. seems to be a real quality product. Nice aluminum case, long enough USB & power cables (HP are you reading??) On/off button. Spins up quickly. Quiet.
  • Cons: Ordered two of these. One works great, the other disconnects itself automatically within a few minutes (used the same connectors to test). Shame it must be RMA'd at my expense ($12 shipping). Had to knock 2 eggs off, otherwise it would get a 5.

Usable but letdown

Tauri, Amazon
24 March 2014
  • Summary: Bought this hard drive as i had heard good things about LaCie but was disappointed, looks good but noisy, slow and dosent give a vibe that it would last for long so for the price i paid almost 100 pound (over half year ago) was way too much for what i got i dont know about other LaCie products but...

Good value but quirky.

Music Master, Amazon
12 February 2013
  • Summary: This HDD is exactly what it says but setting it up can be a nightmare and using it awkward. The pictorial instructions may be international but they didn't fit my operating system (Win 7). So, I fumbled it first time and the setup software would not let me do it again.

First class external hard drive

M. Wilkinson, Amazon
1 January 2012
  • Summary: I received this from a computer savvy family member because I'd had some problems playing files off a 3tb external hard drive on our HD tv - it seems that 2tb is as much as current models can 'see' and its formatted as NTSF so it can hold big HD movies files of 10 gig or more.
