Summary: A stylish drive but you can find cheaper ones on Amazon. If you're a Mac user setting this hard drive up with your computer is super easy follow these steps. 1. Plug in the hard drive 2. Open up disk utility found in your applications folder inside the utilities folder 3. Next select the newly plugged in a hard drive and on the right-hand side you should see partition click on that. 4.
Summary: It's all true. The drive just drops off the radar for no reason. The internal power connection is faulty. Nothing is worse than having one bum wire as the downfall of your 2 TB project. Buy G drives. They are the last truly reliable external hard drive manufacturer out there. You can afford not to buy this.
Summary: I am returning this drive after 1 day of ownership. The drive dismounts spontaneously and a search for tech support on the La Cie website was nothing but an unending circle of links that always returned to the same web page. There is nobody home. I was never able to enter an info such as a problem description and, needless to say, won't be waiting for a response. Total ripoff!
Summary: Hooked this up to my 27" iMac. Easy to set up with Time Machine and worked great till about a month ago. It still powered up, but just spun constantly while no longer backing anything up. So am replacing it with a 2TB LaCie Minimus. If that also has a short life then it's 3 strikes for LaCie (the 1TB Minimus also replaced another Lacie drive that stopped working).
Save Your Money Unless You Just Want The Hard Drive

Summary: This is my second and last LaCie external drive. Both had power failures after the year mark. On this one, I noticed the drive disappeared one day recently when I received an error message to properly eject drives on the Mac. Looked at it and saw it was powered off. That was a little weird. I powered it back on, and it appeared again. In a moment of foresight, I had ordered a WD replacement external drive.
Summary: I purchased this unit and it worked for less than a year then failed to work. It won't be recognised by the computer because the plugin connection was detached. Sent to company for repair but was sent back without touching. Spent many hours online contacting with technical services and customer services. The reason they refuse to repair as they claimed is that the case was opened.
Summary: This is the second Lacie driver I have purchased over last five years. The first one was a smaller driver. In looking back on this purchase I probably should have bought a larger one... The driver has worked without any problems. Easy to hook up to your computer. I didn't realize that they also provided a USB 3 cord and bought one.....now I have two.... I would definately buy another Lacie drive.
Summary: LaCie's products have been failing miserably in the last year or so. We order over 100 hard drives in the last couple of years. They used to be reliable, but now they are failing after a year or two. I recently ordered around 10 of them. 5 have failed on and off. They are unreliable. They dismount constantly, they become "invisible", they are being unable to reformat, etc. Also dealing with their customer service is unbearable.
Summary: I bought this hard disk as my backup option. I stored all my pictures and music and audio which was less than 500 MB. Just after 3 months my lapton stopped detecting the hard disk. I have tried using other computers and laptops as well and still same result. Is there any option for me left. If somebody can help me out, I will change the rating on basis of customer support.
