Summary: I have the 2 TB model and it just failed after 3-years (end June 2014), almost to the day. My 1 TB LaCie is still going strong after 5-years and my 500 GB LaCie is even older. The drives still working are used to store various files pictures and videos and so they don't read/write as much as the failed drive did.
Summary: This drive has served me well for backups for a while. Nicely designed. A bit slow compared with OWC drives, but for periodic backups that doesn't matter. Having multiple connectivity is helpful. Presumably this has now been replaced with a USB 3 model, but I still recommend FW800. Note that this is not bus powered, you need to plug it in via the provided power cord.
Summary: This hard drive has lasted me for 4 years so far, and still runs fine. I tried to buy the same model a little over a year ago and could only find it with USB. No more firewire 800?? Literally, this model transferred video twice as fast. Great item with which to edit video.
Summary: I enjoyed these so I bought another one to match my 500 gig. Only problem is telling the two apart, but that's not biggie. You can stack them next to each other and they look great with the blue LED light, or on top. Pretty decent on heat as well.
Awesome and has always been sturdy and trustworthy!

Summary: I looked at countless different hard drives before picking this one and was extremely glad I picked this one. At the time I couldn't afford a portable one, so I chose to buy the best 2 TB hard drive I could find. I have accidently knocked this thing on the floor a few times and pulled it out without releasing it by my computer, and I have never had any problems and I have had it for almost two years.
