Summary: This is a pretty good external hard drive, but if you have a Mac then formatting for it will take a while. With that said, I have had this hard drive for about a year and it is reliable, it is quite, it stays cool, and hasn't given me any hiccups since I formatted it for my MacBook.
Summary: I have used it to back up my Imac. It has been making a slight clicking noise which makes me nervous so I filled out the warranty information just in case. I have had a really bad experience years earlier with a 500 GB drive so I am just waiting --so...
WARNING: even under warranty you pay for tech support

Summary: I have had my LaCie drive for less than a year, and it has started dying out and not showing up as a connected device on my computer, so it is impossible to access. It is still under warranty for defects, so I phoned them for technical support and was told that I would have to pay $14.95 for someone...
Summary: cons: It isn't as silent as I thought in fact very noisy in my opinion. I compared speed with another external HD I have and this Lacie is considerable slower. USB cable too short for a desktop HD Pros: It is doing its job.
Summary: We goth this drive to increase the performance of one of our lesser media center pc's. although the drive is fast and adequate in size, it only is good for low bandwidth applications or media. If we record 2 shows, we can't watch a third.
Summary: You may get a good HD, or not. The Christmas present was DOA. A few moments with a tester indicated that the power supply was not working. (A problem entioned in other Amazon reviews for this 1tb drive.) Christmas Day, Thursday; did the Amazon paperwork for an exchange which arrived Monday.
Summary: I've been using my Lacie drive for the past three months. The triple interface and great capacity is why I purchased this. If your computer has a firewire port, you'll take advantage of much faster real-world transfer rates over USB 2.0.
Summary: This is a decent drive, especially for the price. I read about every review everywhere on a bunch of hard drives and it really seems like a hit or miss. I don't mind this drive... It looks great, has lots of connection options and I had it out of the box and set up in about 1 minute!
