Lots of Space, Better for a PC

Luis De Mendoza, Amazon
10 January 2011
  • Summary: This is a pretty good external hard drive, but if you have a Mac then formatting for it will take a while. With that said, I have had this hard drive for about a year and it is reliable, it is quite, it stays cool, and hasn't given me any hiccups since I formatted it for my MacBook.

  • Summary: I have used it to back up my Imac. It has been making a slight clicking noise which makes me nervous so I filled out the warranty information just in case. I have had a really bad experience years earlier with a 500 GB drive so I am just waiting --so...

ellemint, Amazon
22 February 2010
  • Summary: I have had my LaCie drive for less than a year, and it has started dying out and not showing up as a connected device on my computer, so it is impossible to access. It is still under warranty for defects, so I phoned them for technical support and was told that I would have to pay $14.95 for someone...

so far so good

William A. Silva "Albert", Amazon
4 October 2009
  • Summary: cons: It isn't as silent as I thought in fact very noisy in my opinion. I compared speed with another external HD I have and this Lacie is considerable slower. USB cable too short for a desktop HD Pros: It is doing its job.

decent value for the cost

Who?, Amazon
9 January 2009
  • Summary: We goth this drive to increase the performance of one of our lesser media center pc's. although the drive is fast and adequate in size, it only is good for low bandwidth applications or media. If we record 2 shows, we can't watch a third.

Take a Chance

Christian Tucker "Penny Squeezer", Amazon
29 December 2008
  • Summary: You may get a good HD, or not. The Christmas present was DOA. A few moments with a tester indicated that the power supply was not working. (A problem entioned in other Amazon reviews for this 1tb drive.) Christmas Day, Thursday; did the Amazon paperwork for an exchange which arrived Monday.

Great Lacie Design meets subpar performance

Alan Dodaro "-adods", Amazon
25 December 2008
  • Summary: I've been using my Lacie drive for the past three months. The triple interface and great capacity is why I purchased this. If your computer has a firewire port, you'll take advantage of much faster real-world transfer rates over USB 2.0.

Jury is still out

M. J. Paci, Amazon
12 December 2008
  • Summary: I just purchased this drive as a replacement for a WD MyBook which died on me recently. The primary use of this drive will be for Time Machine backups from my dual 1.8 GHz G5 via Firewire 400. I was surprised by the weight of this drive (not in a bad way) -- I didn't expect it to weigh so much.
