Summary: I'm using the hard drive to store RAW files. They take a little long to transfer.. but it mounts immediately and doesn't make too much noise and take sup no space. Wish it had it's own on/off switch. So far, so good.
Pros: Easy To Setup, Easy to use, High Capacity, Reliable
Summary: I use this hard drive to back up My Documents and Desktop for my work laptop. No software installation is required, but I do use the Lacie backup software that came installed on the drive itself, and it functions with no problems. I can't really compare the drive's speed to other external drives as it's my only one. I was backing up my files within 5-minutes of taking it out of the box.
Summary: Great for backing up archiving files. It gives me compact storage of a large amount of photos and video. I enjoy being able to plug in to retrive photos and video clips for projects rather than digging through DVDs.
Pros: Easy To Setup, Easy to use, Fast, High Capacity, Portable, Reliable
Summary: First experience with X drives. LaCie recommended by co-workers. Bought two with the idea to stack them. No way! Too warm! Even the AC adapters run "hot". Will get a separate power strip so I can power down the drives when not in use, and keep my desktop running.
Summary: I bought a pair of these to file and back up digital images. They are fast, quiet and built to last. Set up is easy, and they can be partitioned or reformatted with ease. The only down side is no on/off switch, which is solved by plugging them into a surge protector with on/off switch. They don't carry a "designer name" but for the money these are great storage devices.
