Summary: Pretty noisy... nervous that when I touch it, the noise (presumably of the spinning hard disc) changes... yikes. has started randomly disconnecting from computer.... glad i have it backed up... but it's been OK so far...
Easy to set up in Time Machine as new back up disk when previous back up disk was full.

Summary: I hooked up this new drive in place of my previous LaCie back up drive that was filled to capacity. I was able to use the same connection cord that the old back up drive used, but the power cord on this model was different. I used the set up that is included and set Time Machine to back up to the new drive. It took the whole day to back up my computer, but this new drive is up and running with no issues.
Summary: Conflicts with Mac - locks up system. After three years of extremely light duty, only running for minutes at a time to backup photos - it's now grinding and groaning as if failure is imminent. Horrible junk, especially for the price.
Summary: These drives are little bricks. They work well. They seem up to LaCie standards. They weigh a good bit because of the metal which helps cool them. Not fun to carry on location. But the corrugated metal is hard to put a label on to ID what is on the drive. Once you screw the base on, you cannot put it back in the box unless you dump the internal box. I usually keep my drives in their original boxes for safety.
Summary: Fine drive and aesthetically interesting, but I tend to run into power-supply issues on these. That said, LaCie has always honored their warranties (send yours in and they send you a refurbished unit).
This unit could be a cause of a catastrophic system problem with a connected Dell PC.

Summary: I've had the drive for 21 days and it seemed fine on a Dell Studio XPS 9100 PC running Win 7 premium, connected drive via USB. In my experience, you must load the LaCie software called Desktop Manager” which is the way you must partition the drive. You cannot just connect the drive and use it. I had an older 2T LaCie and two small 240 MB LaCie drives which just plugged in and functioned.
Summary: Right item, great price. Wicked fast ship. Pleasant form factor and operation. Reliable weekly data backup, should last for years No hassle plug-and-play on Dell Desktop. This is my second such unit, and I wish there was a different solution for power supply. The transformers start to take up space after a couple.
