Horrible junk, especially for the price
20 October 2014
Summary: Conflicts with Mac - locks up system. After three years of extremely light duty, only running for minutes at a time to backup photos - it's now grinding and groaning as if failure is imminent. Horrible junk, especially for the price.
Summary: Fine drive and aesthetically interesting, but I tend to run into power-supply issues on these. That said, LaCie has always honored their warranties (send yours in and they send you a refurbished unit).
Summary: As an IT technician, everyday I have to find solutions for my clients and their myriad of systems. Thankfully the d2 Quadra takes a lot of the effort out of this for me. This drive suits differtent platforms and connection types, it’s quick, reliable, easy to configure and so far hasn’t skipped a beat.
Summary: As an at-home web designer I'm always trying to make sure my work files are securely backed up and can be accessed at a moment's notice. With the d2 Quadra, I now know that they are. I can even store my most critical data on the 10 GB of cloud storage (you get it for free with the drive) for added safety and security. Perfect.
Summary: I was looking for an external hard drive that could be used on my standard esata port and that had the latest technology, like USB 3. The product was installed easily except that I had to use the USB 2.0 port in order to get the installation wizard running. I did not install additional software though. Afterwards, I used the esata cable instead of the USB one and it is working fine for two months now, exactly like a internal disk.
