Summary: As an IT technician, everyday I have to find solutions for my clients and their myriad of systems. Thankfully the d2 Quadra takes a lot of the effort out of this for me. This drive suits differtent platforms and connection types, it’s quick, reliable, easy to configure and so far hasn’t skipped a beat.
Summary: As an at-home web designer I'm always trying to make sure my work files are securely backed up and can be accessed at a moment's notice. With the d2 Quadra, I now know that they are. I can even store my most critical data on the 10 GB of cloud storage (you get it for free with the drive) for added safety and security. Perfect.
Summary: I bought the 1TB version product in the fall of 2010, and I'm a moderately heavy user: a full time professional photographer shooting exclusively in RAW. I regularly transfer large batches of files to and from the 1TB drive and have never had a single issue. Runs super fast with firewire 800, works with my 2011 27" macbook pro and 2009 24" iMac- both running Lion (the iMac ran Leopard before).
Summary: This drive has a good quality all-metal enclosure. It's heavy and quite sturdy. It's also quiet, and has a soft blue light on the front panel. The transfer speeds are good, I use Firewire 800 and a regular backup takes barely half an hour. Good external HDD all around.
Summary: Fast drive with a good choice of connections. I use it for video editing, and haven't had one glitch yet. It's simple to use, quiet, solidly built, and most importantly it serves my purpose perfectly!
LaCie d2 Quadra Desktop External Hard Drive (301500U)
Murgatroid "Murgatroid", Amazon
28 May 2012
Summary: I've been using the LaCie d2 Quadra Desktop External Hard Drive (301500U) with my iMac Leopard for two weeks now. I formatted it: Mac OS extended journaled and partitioned it, (took a few minutes) then daisy chained it to other LaCie Ext. HDs I already have. So far, it's working 100 % as advertised. Easy set up, and using FW 800, very fast. I would recommend the product. Especially for the price, the speed (7200 rpm) and the 2 TB of memory.
Summary: I got this 2 TB drive as an upgrade to my old 320 GB drive, which still works by the way but is running short of space. The new d2 Quadra runs pretty fast. I haven't had any issues with it, I haven't even heard it make a sound. It's very quiet.
Summary: I bought this for backup for my PC. It was a breeze to setup, and has been working seamlessly so far. In terms of operation the drive seems to be very reliable. It's quiet, and fast. The unit comes with all the cables you might need, and a good backup software that works well.
