Summary: Plugged it in. Everything works like a charm. It makes an excellent backup drive. It's completely silent. My only criticism is the energy saver which sometimes causes a 2 or 3 second pause when waking from energy saver mode. But that's a pretty first world problem to have.
Summary: This drive doesn't work with Apple's Time Machine software. When you try to raise this with LaCie, they take the drive back, test it on a PC, and tell you it works. Then they send it back to you and it doesn't work. And so on. $320 down the drain….
Summary: I had to pull the trigger on this because I just love the way it looks. I only really use it for storage as I would a USB, not for backing up or anything. So far there have been no disappointments and I'm hoping it stays that way.
Attractive unit and quiet but reliability problems.

Summary: Experience similar to other users here. Unit would stop working part-way through OSX writing. Eventually unit stopped operating at all on any operating system. Returned for repair. Repair took a very long time and LaCie's ticket management process is not very customer friendly (you would almost think they didn't want to repair units). Unit had circuit board replaced (according to local service agent) and has worked fine so far.
Summary: A lot of negative reviews here, mostly because I think angry people take the time to write reviews instead of happy people. I'm also guilty of this, but hopefully this review adds some balance, because truth be told I think this is a great drive. First, it has great design which I think is cool because even after the drive is no longer useful it will look great just sitting there in your home.
