Excerpt: I have 3 of the drives setup as a RAID 5, and the remaining two setup as a RAID 1. Works exactly as expected, and thunderbolt 2 is incredibly fast. The RAID management software has a bit of learning curve, but once figured out, it's pretty straight forward.
Summary: I own a video production company. My client bought one of these hard drives for me to use for editing their footage. The drive constantly ejected itself from my MacBook Pro. Then after a couple of weeks it stopped mounting and didn't work any longer, so it had to be returned.
Summary: Unfortunately, this product did not appear ready for prime time, or any time. I wanted the speed and protection of a RAID 5 array as well as the reliability of LaCie's products. However, the drive ejected itself several times from my Mac desktop before it would not mount at all.
Summary: Dead on arrival. It did not power up. I connected it on July4 and there is no support today. I have to say that it is solidly built and the case is nicely machined. It is too expensive for a paperweight however, so I will have to return it and try again.
Summary: I needed to first use this to extract information from drives of a failed machine, so replaced installed drives with those from old Mac. Was able to retrieve information. Then reinstalled the original drives. Set up a mirror RAID for TimeMachine. The other 3 drives are free to store videos etc.
