Made my Windows7 unstable even though it says it is compatible with Windows7

Summary: Pros: Stunning looks hot removable drives multiple configurations for RAID Cons: Poor customer service (be prepared to be on hold ... till you give up:) ) Sharp corners might lead to injury Most irritating fact: makes windows unstable. Frequent bluescreen incidents (locale 1033, 124)occur when I have Lacies HD connected to PC (Windows7).
Summary: I was super excited to get this drive. It was the size I needed and I have had great luck with LaCie's smaller external hard drives. Unfortunately, the entire drive failed less than one year after I purchased it. All of my data for a huge project were stored on this drive. My IT guy worked with LaCie and the support was pretty good. Within one week they had restored 95% of the data on the drive and shipped me a new one.
Summary: I bought 6 of these units. Between 2 years 4 of them have failed that required the whole unit being replaced. Before that, I had to have 4-6 of the disks in different units replaced. Could not afford the downtown of these systems and have spent over $500 to get advance replacements. I complained to LacIe who offered me a discount to buy a spare disk! I highly caution buyers of getting these units. 66% failure is totally unacceptable.
Pros: says it holds 12tb but is set for 9tb and when I changed it , it doesnt let my computer start up , it locks unless its off at start up , also has othe stuff like a private block you can add a password to but deleted my pictures and never could get into that after install
Summary: I'm a filmmaker working with all digital workflow. I figured this RAID drive would be an excellent way to backup my raw footage while working on multiple projects. For the past 2 years I have been using this drive for exactly this purpose. The drive was configured for a RAID 5 to get the most out of storage/redundancy ratio. The drive was rarely in use, and was mainly used for archiving raw footage. One night, I left it running overnight to transcode some footage.
Summary: I'm on my third FAILED Lacie 4tb. Support has sent two units after red lights on drives and now the third unit keeps disconnecting from my Apple desktop. Running OS 10.6.8 and it's so frustrating to have NO back up with all my video files. When I recently received the third unit, I pulled all the drives to re seat after shipping to discover ALL 4 drives are Hitachi dated from July 2008. This is after, I specifically asked them not to send another Refurbished unit. Shady!
Summary: Warning to Mac users: I purchased one Lacie Big drive 18 months ago, another Lacie Big drive 24 months ago. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion. Neither drive works after the upgrade. The Lacie web site said that the "solution" to this problem was to revert back to Snow Leopard. Not really a solution. But I assumed that maybe this meant that a firmware upgrade or something was in the works. So I contacted Lacie support.
Summary: All hard drives fail, but if a drive this big fails within 6 months of ownership, shouldn't there be something the company can do? Lacie has by far the worst customer service I've ever encountered in all my years of Tech Support. Buyer beware. I had information on this drive backed up to several smaller Lacie 1 and 2 TB drives, one of which failed simultaneously! Suffice it to say I will never buy a Lacie product again.
Summary: This is the worst excuse for a backup drive I have ever used! What a piece of crap! Slowed down my new server to the point where I was about to re-image the server. As a last resort, unplugged the backup drive and things are moving again. None of the data I tried to back up was successfully backed up. I couldn't even reformat the drive as Windows keeps saying cannot reformat. The Lacie desktop manager won't even recognize it.
