I would so like to be writing about problems with configuration

Dandydoc, Amazon
  • Summary: I would so like to be writing about problems with configuration, or read/ write speeds. Instead, I plugged in my device and it did not come on. I tested the power brick and cable on another LaCie device and it confirmed that it was carrying current. The 2 big did not come on. This would normally end the review, but it is relevant that I purchased a LaCie 5big two weeks ago. It was plugged in according to directions and it also would not come on.

Plenty of Space.

Tommyn, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I love the space. I have a Nikon D800 and shoot in raw for editing purposes so you know I need the space. The The Thunderbolt speed makes this hard drive faster than the Hard drive inside of my iMac. I gave for stars because of the huge blue light in the front, which is really not necessary, but I suppose it's a trademark of Lacie!

Works great

W. Burrows, Amazon
8 May 2014
  • Summary: Arrived in good condition and works as advertised. I would recommend it to others. Shipping from the seller was prompt. Had my first experience with Lacie support getting a failed drive replaced and the second drive in the RAID array kept working while I went through the process of replacing it. New drive just plugged straight into the array and rebuilt itself without interrupting service to the drive. Nice.

Great addition to my system

mavn "Rand Fan", Amazon
21 April 2014
  • Summary: This is my second LaCie 2big Thunderbolt external HD. My first LaCie I have now reformatted into a 2TB mirrored RAID, and my new 6TB LaCie is being used as a normal HD. The combo of the 2 Thunderbolt HDs plus my SSD startup disk has made my system quite speedy. Hopefully, the somewhat flaky performance of the transformers supplied with some of the older LaCie HDs is history now.

Fast and Quiet 6TB HD holds all my media for instant fast access

L. Ganz, Amazon
17 April 2014
  • Summary: My iTunes Library grew to 3.4TB and my Seagate 4TB Backup Plus external drive was getting cramped (I also reviewed that here on Amazon). I bought the 6TB LaCie on 3/1/14 because I have a LaCie 2 disk NAS that I bought 3.5 years ago which is still running strong, and I trust them. I like that I can put larger drives in this later and not have to clone an OS to the new drives like I would with an NAS like my older LaCie.

Super fast compared to Firewire 800 and eSATA

Augsburg57, Amazon
10 April 2014
  • Summary: My mid-2011 iMac has a choice of USB 2.0, Firewire 800 and Thunderbolt. The FW 800 connection (with my other LaCie drives) tested at write speeds from 60 to 75 MB/s, and read speeds at 70 to 81 MB/s. Thunderbolt to eSATA through a hub tested only a little faster. This LaCie 2big Thunderbolt 6TB drive tested at a whopping Write of 295/MB/s and Read of 336 MB/s. A huge improvement when dealing with large video and photo files.
