Excerpt: Using this as a Raid 1 back up for all my digital assets. It is fast and speedy, but the documentation could have been better as it uses a different set-up procedure then expected. Quiet and small footprint.
Summary: I have owned several external hard drives for backup purposes over the years. But this was my first RAID-1 drive. So far I have been very impressed. The build quality of the enclosure far surpasses anything else I have owned, and using it has been painless so far. I had a few minor issues with the initial set-up, switching the drive from RAID-0 to RAID-1 mode, but this was mostly since I didn't exactly follow the enclosed instructions.
Summary: I'm using this unit as my main backup drive for all my data at home, and I never realized how much I had until I sorted it all into this drive. Amazing how it all piles up. The unit is sturdy, fast, and seems to be reliable so far.
Summary: I got up and running with this unit without a problem. I use it to backup my video projects. It works well, and is very well built. I also like the fact that it's quiet and that if the unit gets too hot or a problem develops with the fan, I'll get an automatic email notification.
Excerpt: I purchased this as a backup system for my computer to hold thousands of photographs. Setting up can be confusing if your not a computer geek, but the folks at LaCie were great and walked me through the process. Read through the manual (obtained on-line or from CD) a couple of times. The first step, is to decide if you want this as one complete drive or as two separate drives that mirror each other. I set them up to mirror so that if one crashed I had a back-up.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to use, High Capacity
Excerpt: This external is better than most i've has a far as speed goes. I've used LaCie products before and I'm glad that they're making things a little more affordable with thier external options. 4TB with USB 3 and Firewire 800 options is a must for transferring large video files. So Far So Good.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity, Quiet
Summary: I bought this bad boy to replace a G-Tech external hard drive that went bad after less than a year! I went back to Lacie because they are just more robust. I have a Lacie external drive that has been plugging away at work for more than 7 years with no problems! You get what you pay for.
