Died

KEALW, Costco
  • Summary: My ioSafe 'died' and stopped spinning after about 3 months. I am returning to Costco for a refund. Not sure whether to try again. Glad I had a second G drive as a parallel backup.

Very reliable device

Billie2, Costco

  • Summary: Great product. This is the second drive that I purchased. The first drive was over 5 years old but was replaced due to age, not failure.
  • Pros: reliable lasts for years
  • Cons: none

Last line of data defence

photomn, Costco
  • Summary: I have multiple backup drives to protect over 30 years of photos, and usually take one with me if I'm gone for a few days, just in case of a fire at home. Sometimes I forget to take one. With this fireproof, waterproof hard drive, I feel like I have a last line of defense in case of disaster. Operates quietly, was easily recognized on my WinXP. After 3 months, so far so good. I'd purchase another.
  • Pros: fireproof
  • Cons: large

Love the product

HCH4, Costco
9 December 2014
  • Summary: I bought this to back up all of company's data. This storage device is on the lowest floor so I wanted some protection from damage in the event of a disaster. It has worked seamlessly in the background backing up all of my files. I love the protection it gives. I had a couple of questions regarding warranty length and the CEO himself replied. I like that kind of customer service.
  • Pros: great customer service
  • Cons: none

Very well built

pmilin, Costco
21 November 2014
  • Summary: Received this drive and it was very well packaged as it is quite heavy. Easy enough to hookup. Just connect the USB cable and the power cable. Turn unit on and the PC automatically discovered it. I was copying back file to it in no time. Only downside that I could find is that the power cable can become unplugged very easily from the back of the unit if you have to move it around. This happened to me as I was situating the drive in my rack.
  • Pros: very well built good looking drive easy connection
  • Cons: wish it didn't have an external power adapter

Great purchase! Great price!

NorCalD503, Costco
16 November 2014
  • Summary: This external hard drive back-up is phenomenal - plug-and-play simplicity, no software or drivers to download and mess around with, very easy to use, and it's great peace of mind. We have a network external hard-drive as our primary back-up, but having a disaster proof back-up for everything is nice. It's pretty fast, it looks great (although it is a bit heavier than I expected), and most importantly, it holds a ton of data.
  • Pros: fast write speeds disaster proof very easy to set up and use immediately
  • Cons: size (for only some users)

Not your everyday hard drive

AddyM, Costco
13 November 2014
  • Summary: I use this storage drive for my onsite backup. This not so little guy is solidly built. It is also not intended to be mobile (although it can be) as it can be secured. If you need an extra level (or two) of security from some type of disaster- you will want to consider this bad puppy!
  • Pros: easy setup-plug and play secure casing mountable
  • Cons: mobility could be an issue (or not)

ioSafe External hard Drive

Comput3rguy, Costco
11 November 2014
  • Summary: I own several of these drives and have recommended them to family, friends and clients. There is nothing for the price that provides the security against fire & water.
  • Pros: plug it in and go no setup required.
  • Cons: none that i have ever found
