Summary: I'm marginally happy with this product. I have had it for about 8 months with infrequent use. Initially the product worked fine. I needed something that was portable and dependable. I found that it was portable, but not extremely dependable. I use multiple computer in a given day and sometimes need to move around large files to each work station.
Summary: I bought this drive because I had purchased one just like it a year or so ago, and I wanted to keep one backup outside my home. Also, about 6 months ago, the Retrospect software that came with it started giving me error messages and would not complete the backup. The only fix, according to the users forum, was to erase previous backups, reinstall the software, and start over. This is not a good feature for a backup.
Summary: I bought this HD about a month ago and I am already starting to get the "Click of Death." I am currently in the process of backing it up (and praying that it doesn't break in the process). Unfortunately, this is my "back up drive" and it's capacity doubles every other drive I own making a complete back up, impossible. Be prepared to have a nice lil chit chat with customer service about them sending you a new HD.
Summary: No matter what version of Windows 7 you're running you will have issues with this device. I read the reviews, saw the Win7 issues (everyone seemed to be running a version of Win7 Home) and thought the same wouldn't apply to me. I'm running Windows 7 64bit enterprise which is the most idiot-proof, stable and least buggy OS I have ever used (I'm including Mac's in the latter) so I thought I stood a good chance of a positive experience. Nope.
