Drive just stopped working one year into operation

B. Johnson, Amazon
15 August 2012
  • Summary: Drive suddenly won't mount after one year of moderate use. Terrible product-- last time I'll use Iomega. I should have listened to the bad reviews this time. UPDATE: I plugged it into the Mac and waited for a long time, finally it mounted in "read only" mode.

First One Replaced Under Warranty

J. Allen, Amazon
25 April 2012
  • Summary: I'm marginally happy with this product. I have had it for about 8 months with infrequent use. Initially the product worked fine. I needed something that was portable and dependable. I found that it was portable, but not extremely dependable.

Windows 7 users watch out!

Amazon
5 November 2011
  • Summary: No matter what version of Windows 7 you're running you will have issues with this device. I read the reviews, saw the Win7 issues (everyone seemed to be running a version of Win7 Home) and thought the same wouldn't apply to me.

Product fails when used with Windows 7 Backup and Restore Utility

James M. Koury, Amazon
10 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought this unit to use as a hard drive backup of my new Dell XPS computer. When running the Windows 7 Backup and Restore utility the process kept failing. I initially tried backup on two separate Iomega Prestige 2 terabyte units and then again with two Prestige 1 terabyte units. All 4 failed.

beware

kh, Amazon
9 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought this drive because I had purchased one just like it a year or so ago, and I wanted to keep one backup outside my home. Also, about 6 months ago, the Retrospect software that came with it started giving me error messages and would not complete the backup.

Poor Choice as a backup drive

C. Moltz, Amazon
31 May 2011
  • Summary: It was bought to serve as a backup drive. It was only used intermittently for that purpose. The drives it was backing up are still working and it has gone completely dead. No warning, it just died. It could not even be re-formatted. I am glad I did not have to rely on this product.

Okay drive, mediocre customer support

D. J. Bookbinder, Amazon
17 May 2011
  • Summary: Purchased one of these recently to replace an aging FreeAgent drive and I would not buy another Iomega drive based not on the hardware, which seems okay, but on the customer support.

Does not work with Airport Extreme Base Station

G. Vigers, Amazon
18 December 2010
  • Summary: I formatted this drive to work with my Mac (Extended, Journaled, GUID) and it does indeed work when connected directly to the computer. However, when connected to my Airport Extreme base station it is not visible over the network. There is a thread on the Apple discussion boards ([...
