very nice, once I got rid of the pre-installed junk

lost in my e-reader "Sufue", Amazon
8 March 2012
  • Summary: I wanted a 500GB external portable drive to use for my own style of backup, which is really more syncing than backup - i.e. not Windows 7 backup. I also wanted something with a pretty small form factor, and I found this for a good price on sale. It's not ***quite*** as small as the G-Drive Slim, but it's almost as small, and it was also about 25% less in price. I liked that trade-off.

Iomega Encryption Utility Issue (CDFS)

Rui Seixas Monteiro, Amazon
17 September 2011
  • Summary: So far so good with my 750 GB (698.5 GiB) unity. I don't give 5 stars because the CDFS associated to the Iomega Encryption Utility, that gave a headache to remove it. In the end, it was easy! I downloaded the program iomega-encryption-windows from the iomega site, and after install it, unplugged and plugged the drive, and followed the iomega-encryption-windows interface to remove the CDFS partition.

Excellent Option For Portable USB 3.0 Hard Drive

FirePepper Red "firepepper red", Amazon
21 April 2011
  • Summary: I own several portable hard drives including Seagate GoFlex, the Western Digitial Essentials portable and Elite drives and now this Iomega Prestige. This Iomega Prestige definitely at the top of the list. It has a sturdy METAL case and a sleek design that is actually marginally smaller than the others. The USB 3.0 interface is extremely fast and backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

small, sleek, so far fine, can't tell about USB 3.0 yet

B. Capossere, Amazon
8 April 2011
  • Summary: The Iomega Prestige comes in a very sleek and small package. Despite its size, it has some heft to it and feel quite sturdy and durable. It's speed is a bit slower than my equivalent verbatim and somewhat faster than my Iomega eGo portable drives. The difference is mostly negligible with documents and document folders but becomes more noticeably when transferring larger files such as photo or movie folders.

Iomega prestige 500gb-super speed-super fast.

Mark Johnson, Amazon
28 February 2011
  • Summary: You can make the most of this device if you have a 3.0 usb compatible system. At first I couldn't use the 3.0 version since my pc did not have that usb port, but still it worked fine, plus the encrypted security software introduced with this device is really good, keeps all my data safe. But when I recently got a mac, and started using the 3.0 usb of this drive, I could see the difference pretty clearly. The data transfer speed increased upto 10 time of the 2.0 usb !!

  • Summary: I had an older Texas Instruments but I could never do a computer back up on it. Certain files would not transfer. Knowing from the older equipment Iomega made I hoped and was rewarded with a new modern external hard drive. ! or 2 extra steps after the initial backup and voila. Done deal. Now with MSN's new Internet explorer, if my computer starts locking up and I can't get the Windows restore to work I still have old Nelly. Iomega.

Not bad...

J. Pickford, Amazon
19 August 2011
  • Summary: Updated November 2013: I bought this in July 2011 for around £50 and updating this review over two years later I'm still reasonably happy with it. The good: + It looks nice and feels well made + It's very compact + It's very quiet and you'd normally have to listen carefully to notice any noise + A single USB port has been sufficient to power it on every computer I have tried it on. But the supplied cable has two connectors just in case.

A good device

kristoph23, Dooyoo
16 September 2010
  • Excerpt: I have limited storage on my computer which means an external hard drive has been the best device for me in terms of storing files and programmes which can slow down a computer. When I had my first external hard drive I was always told to buy an Iomega one as they are some of the best you can get so I managed to buy this prestige one and with 500 GB memory inside you can be sure most files will fit perfectly.
