Summary: This external drive worked fine for exactly two years....then gave up the ghost. Even though the light was lit, files could not be added or retrieved, and the content could not be accessed. To destroy the data, I pounded it repeatedly with a hammer. But it is indestructible. On the advice of an IT specialist, it is now soaking in water. After a couple of days, it will be recycled.
Avoid any drive with mini-USB / micro-USB connections

Excerpt: For a few years I used this drive to back up my Toshiba Qosmio G32 running XP. It has worked well up to now but XP is soon to be unsupported. So I now have an Acer laptop with Win 7. BUT the Iomega drive has started to disconnect between data transfers. The reason I have found out is that the female mini-USB socket on the drive has gotten worn and loose so that the male plug on my USB cable simply falls out.
Summary: The good: It looks good - sleek design The bad: Its not bootable (after creating a bootable active partition using DISKPART - tested on various HP and Toshiba laptops) Wiping their encryption software off is a pain USB cable is bespoke
Summary: It's a nice sleek design, but the non-standard USB connection on the drive looks very weak and likely to be an early point of failure. I'm returning it and looking for one with a normal USB connector.
Compact, convenient. Update: it has become unreliable with newer PCs

Summary: Update to this review: the unit has become unreliable after occasional use over a year and so is no longer any use for backup. Re-formating it will sometimes get it to work with some PCs, but not others. Original review: This is really convenient way to backup and move files. The unit is incredibly small and neat, needs no separate power unit.
Summary: Habe diese externe FP zweimal gekauft. Anscheinend soll man sie also an zwei USB-Buchsen gleichzeitig betreiben.
