eSATA won't stay connected

Spider, Amazon
27 September 2013
  • Summary: The eSATA port on this is junk. It doesn't hold cables tight enough to keep a good connection. Causes it to connect and disconnect repeatedly, which is bad.

It stopped working!!

Ming815, Amazon
2 November 2012
  • Summary: It worked well for three days. The drive was recognized and formatted by the cable box DVR. After three days I could not access anything recorded. I could not reset the cable box with the external drive attached. I had to return the unit.

eSATA does not work

GoldenPup, Amazon
10 January 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this ExHD (1TB) soley for the use of the eSATA connection to my computer. I have a factory installed eSATA port on my computer and this HD is not recognized. I tried everything the troubleshooting offered in forwards and in reverse... nothing worked. I'm stuck using the USB 2.0 port making this a more expensive typical external HD. I even downloaded software from the company, no results.

faulty switch, otherwise seems good

T. Vanselus, Amazon
24 January 2011
  • Summary: I bought this drive specifically for the esata port because I wanted to install games on it, and it seems quite fast and high quality besides the broken switch. After just a few weeks of using the drive and I would estimate about 10 times turning it on and off the power switch stopped working except when the drive was upside down, and soon after it would only turn on when I held the switch down.

disappointing

John Chippindale, Amazon
14 January 2014
  • Summary: The socket into the unit and the cable joining it is quite loose fitting and this results in no power connection unless it is perfectly aligned. Not satisfactory in a portable unit.

rubbish

T. Majid, Amazon
23 September 2011
  • Summary: Hi bought this with built in encryption which starts giving you issues after a while, all of sudden drive will not pick up by Windows or any other OS and cant be accessed. two replacement later and same issue with everyone. my advice: ditch the encrypted drive and do a normal usb3 drive as their build quality and dimensions are fantastic.
