Died after 18 months

J. Lord "Justus", Amazon
17 June 2014
  • Summary: It was a good price, decent case design, completely silent. Mine was a 2TB model even though the link says 1TB. Used it as a PC media drive via eSata attached as shown in picture in the stand. I liked the low profile. 2 weeks ago it started disconnecting randomly. I got the data backed up since that's a symptom of hardware failure. A few days ago it started making chunking noises on each boot-up and cannot be found anymore via any connection.

eSATA won't stay connected

Spider, Amazon
27 September 2013
  • Summary: The eSATA port on this is junk. It doesn't hold cables tight enough to keep a good connection. Causes it to connect and disconnect repeatedly, which is bad.

But I ordered a DVR expander!!!

chuck summers, Amazon
14 February 2013
  • Summary: While I have a high regard for Iomega products, I dont understand how it could be so hard to get a DVR expander. The one I previously had died and I wantyed to replace it. The product sent was a Backup portable drive. To be sure I would reccomment the drive to anyone because Iomega has excellentproducts. What I dont like is not getting what I ordered. If this product is no longer made it should be noted on the web site.

Can't get drive to work on Comcast DVR

Jim, Amazon
29 October 2012
  • Summary: This drive seems to work on my PC, but not on the Comcast Cisco RNG200 DVR. Iomega product support suggests I talk with Comcast. Comcast refers one to the Drive manufacturer. So no help on any front. I had a Apricorn drive that did work, so the problem appears to be related to the Iomega drive itself. So be very cautious before purchasing this to use with a DVR...

Didn't work with my Explorer 8300HD

Tom1996 "Tom1996", Amazon
25 August 2012
  • Summary: Many folks praised this 1TB drive for use as a DVR extender. Most described how easy it was to use with their Fios DVR cable box. Another person had good experience using it with Cablevisions Explorer 8300 and 8300HD. It did not work with my Explorer 8300HD, in fact it messed up my recordings. I noticed that nothing written on the box nor in the instructions mentioned using the HD as a DVR extender. Could they have changed something?
