Summary: I bought two of these to use as a media center with my Mac Mini. I plugged them in and they work great. I was happy to see that it included a USB cable, a standard Firewire cable, and a really short Firewire cable used when stacking this drive under a Mac Mini. That short cable is a nice addition and keeps clutter to a minimum. The packaging was very good. The finish is nearly identical to the Mac Mini.
Summary: It was extremely easy to setup the drive. Just plugged it in and it was Mac formated and found by the OS. It has been running 24/7 since I purchased (only a few weeks now), but is quiet, not terribly hot, and functioning as intended.
Summary: Bought this hard drive about a month ago to compliment my mac mini. Looks awesome!! It also works great with either the firewire or the usb, but the ONLY complaint I have is that you can only use it as a hub for whichever connection you are using. This was nothing in the description pointing out this one small drawback. I would still highly recommend this drive to anyone interested.
Summary: As its for MAC you have to do some little settings to configure it for Windows (but the steps you can see them on the little bootleg it has) and then it will work for both MAC and PC Great hard disk, works fast, is not very noisy, a lot of storage, beautiful piece and cheap to be this good if you are hesitating about it, go for it, it will work great
Summary: Since the external terabyte drive with the features I wanted was formatted for the Apple computer, I had to reformat. It is delightful to have so much available storage space with the portability. If I had one disappointment, it would be that I could not find an external terabyte drive that also had an IDE or high speed network connection so the read/write access time could be speeded up a great deal.
Summary: The Iomega MiniMax works great and barely makes a sound. Initially I was going to purchase a 1TB internal hard drive and an external case to save money. That would have be silly because the Iomega MiniMax was less than the option I was considering as appears to work very well. I have it attached to an Intel-based iMac running Snow Leopard for the sole purpose of running Time Machine.
Summary: I've had the 1tb minimax for about 4 months now and it is still working fine. No computer recognition, power on, failure/crash issues. Although I've only turned it on several times. When I first received it I used it as a storage drive, transferring about 200gb at once. later I created a partition of about 280gb to make a bootable backup copy of my 250gb drive using the SuperDuper freeware software. That went smoothly.
Summary: What can I say except- Oh, how easy! Took it out of the box ,grabbed one of the cords ( Didn't have to buy one because the one I needed wasn't included) hooked everything up and off to the races we went. No problems what so ever. Quiet as can be. Looks nice. Works great with my Mac ( Yeah !) Ordered one previous to this and wouldn't work with my Mac , even though it said it would, so back it went! Even lucked out on a great deal!
Summary: I had a earlier version of this external hard drive but needed more space. It fits right under my Mac Mini, looks cool, and is very quiet. It is easy to install and partition. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable copy of my entire system in one partition and use the other partition for an interim archive. I've always trusted Iomega products and they've never let me down.
Great product, great price, where is the auto shut off?

Summary: Have owned for 3 months, easy to set up easy to use. Fit and finish, very nice. Matches my Mac Mini great. Would recommend. Also frees up some extra USB ports, which is easy to run out of with Mac Mini. Why not a prefect rating, I expected it to shut down or sleep, when my mac sleeps. I don't think it is possible. If there was software on it, to change these setting, It got deleted when I had to reformat to use it as Time machine back up.
