Summary: Bought this to store movies to play on my external media players. Popcorn Hour and WD both would not recognize the drive because of the virtual cd drive that is on this unit. It cannot be deleted. So for what I wanted to use it for, this drive is worthless.
Summary: It is pretty interesting to note that hard drives of the same model work for some and not for others. I have also had some bad experiences with some of the portable hard drives, of other names, I have been using for the last few years. My experience with eGo drives has been different, including the recent addition to my store of Hrddrives being the Blackbelt Mac edition. It is compact like most of the others in this series and it has 1 terabyte of roomspace to hold data.
Summary: This drive doesn't work on my netbook with a PC card. Other manufacturers' drives have worked fine. The drive is also larger and heavier than USB 3.0 drives from other manufacturers (other than Seagate).
Summary: I had it connected to an USB hub. When I connected a 16 GB Kingston pen drive to the same hub, the Iomega, just after 10 days of use, it died ! The light is still on, Windows Disk Manager sees it as off line...when I try to turn it on line, I receive a message of "drive not ready" .I then tried every hard drive manager from Windows and Linux. Impossible to recover the information or fix the drive. Iomega offered me a replacement and Buy.com a refund.
Summary: Works well. Used it initially on windows vista and now on Mac OS X. Worked flawlessly on both. Slightly bulkier in size compared to WD passport drives, but the black color looks good and rubber jacket is a convenient handling feature. No issues as yet.
Summary: I recently bought Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Blackbelt from Buy.com ......... It's been one month, since, I am using this drive. A very nice hard-drive it is ;) The writing speeds are 21 to 35 Mbps on USB 2.0, and 25 to 35 Mbps reading speeds. Better than my 500GB WD Elements ......... Also its small in size and sleek in look. The rubber jacket provides perfect grip, and keeps disk from falling/sliding-off from hand/table.
