Summary: Bought this hard drive to back up all my music and important files from my pc. I only plug it in around twice a month to transfer files. I've had this for 2 years and so far everything works great.
Summary: Bought this because of Iomega's reputation and the price. Works great and doesn't need a power source other than a usb port. Just using it as a backup drive for CAD files. I picked the red color because it is easy to find.
Summary: Initial Pros: 1. Light-weight and thin; great for computer bags, bookbags, breifcases, etc... 2. Very Fast. It comes with two firewire cables and allows for a very fast transfer of information.
Summary: I thought I would add a few things I was unsure of when I purchased this item. 1. If you have a newer MacBook Pro like I do, all you will have to use is one firewire 800 cable. 2. This thing is rocket fast. It took me under 2.5 hours to make my first backup of 350gb. 3. Plugged it in and Time Machine started right up. No need to format or do anything other than make a few time machine preference choices. 4.
Summary: This unit is just what I needed! It is small, light and powerful. I travel for a living and was running out of space for music and photos on my other portable, and this has lots of storage and firewire speed! Very capable and useful.
Summary: definetly the best portable hard drive I've used. The firewire 800 transfers incredibly quick. The rubber skirt on the harddrive does provide sufficient drop protection although I would volunteer to test it. If you looking for a fast mac portable hard drive this is it. Works great with time machine backup as well.
Summary: OK, so I am a back-up fanatic. I have an iMac running an Apple Time Capsule which makes continual back-ups using Time Machine software. That works fine, but what if the house burned down. My iMac and my Time Capsule would literally be toast. Those over the internet back-ups cannot work in tandem with Time Capsule. So, I bought this drive to do weekly back-ups and then store the drive in my house safe (fire and water proof).
Summary: I was looking to replace my LaCie backup hard drive, so I researched on CNet and found this Iomega hard drive. What a shock when it arrived with no power cord! It powers from the 400 FireWire cable, is compact, VERY quiet, and huge storage. It appears solidly constructed, light weight, and looks cool. So far worth every penny.
