Summary: This is a good USB powered portable hard drive that works well. I had a different Iomega that failed earlier, but both of these have worked for more than a year. I recommend these if you need one for a back-up.
Summary: The key feature for a hard drive is reliability, and the only way to figure that out is to put a hard drive through the paces either until it fails or until it chugs along for a reasonable useful life. My experience with Iomega external hard drives has been spotty, at best.
Summary: Have had this drive a little over a year, and it gets used probably 3 times a week as a "time machine" backup drive. It has been reliable and seems reasonably fast. It mounts and dismounts quickly on a MacBook, running on the 800 Firewire.
Summary: I bought this nifty little unit for backups on my macs. I liked the fact that it had USB and FW400 and FW800. It works great, but it is not for continuous usage. After 3 hours of continuous usage, it was hot and the outer shell was starting to split from the unit.
Summary: I got this for college so I could backup my assignments. So far it has proven to be just what I needed. The product doesnt get five stars because the initial backup takes like 2 whole days. That's two days you have to leave your computer on overnight. Other than that, its great!
Summary: I've only had this drive about 3 weeks but so far it's been great. I've copied my Flip video library and my iMovie library over to it. The drive is fast enough for editing and viewing of all my movies. It makes no audible noise and doesn't seem to get too hot.
