Summary: Bought this hard drive to back up all my music and important files from my pc. I only plug it in around twice a month to transfer files. I've had this for 2 years and so far everything works great.

Summary: This is a good USB powered portable hard drive that works well. I had a different Iomega that failed earlier, but both of these have worked for more than a year. I recommend these if you need one for a back-up.
Summary: I used one of these for almost two years, but I only used it to keep files on, so it was running for about two hours for a total of maybe five times. Then, one day, it just started beeping and that was the end of that. Just think about the fact that This thing ran for 10-15 hours in my ownership before it failed. It's hard drives like these that make me feel like I need a backup for my backup and a cloud-based solution would be much more reliable.
Summary: The key feature for a hard drive is reliability, and the only way to figure that out is to put a hard drive through the paces either until it fails or until it chugs along for a reasonable useful life. My experience with Iomega external hard drives has been spotty, at best. But, this one has functioned without problem for 4 years as a music drive for an iTunes set up. Recommended.
Summary: Bought this because of Iomega's reputation and the price. Works great and doesn't need a power source other than a usb port. Just using it as a backup drive for CAD files. I picked the red color because it is easy to find.
Summary: I purchased eGO 500GB drive as a 2nd backup drive. It worked OK with very minimum use (connected once a month to update files) for almost one year. It started showing error when I erase or copy files. I tried to chkdsk or format but it failed with error messages. To qualify 3 year warranty, you need to register the product in 90 days after the purchase, which I did not realize until the drive started failing.
Summary: I bought this external hard drive for use with my ibook g4. I did extensive research before purchasing the Iomega and I'm glad I did - I haven't had any issues at all with this hard drive and it was extremely simple to set up. The body does get quite hot as other reviewers have mentioned but as long as the product keeps working fine I don't have an issue with it.
