OK

HG "HG", Amazon
6 August 2014
  • Summary: Don't like the fact it has two USB plugs...kinda confusing. Also can't save some files with longer names, which is very annoying.

  • Summary: Bought this hard drive to back up all my music and important files from my pc. I only plug it in around twice a month to transfer files. I've had this for 2 years and so far everything works great.

I have 2 of these I use for back-up on 2 computers

James E. Miller "musicmakers2", Amazon
5 August 2013
  • Summary: This is a good USB powered portable hard drive that works well. I had a different Iomega that failed earlier, but both of these have worked for more than a year. I recommend these if you need one for a back-up.

Unpredictable.

Jay, Amazon
25 November 2012
  • Summary: I used one of these for almost two years, but I only used it to keep files on, so it was running for about two hours for a total of maybe five times. Then, one day, it just started beeping and that was the end of that.

Proof is in the pudding.

Maine Writer "David", Amazon
15 November 2012
  • Summary: The key feature for a hard drive is reliability, and the only way to figure that out is to put a hard drive through the paces either until it fails or until it chugs along for a reasonable useful life. My experience with Iomega external hard drives has been spotty, at best.

Just what I needed

Linda Hankes-Smith, Amazon
24 April 2012
  • Summary: Bought this because of Iomega's reputation and the price. Works great and doesn't need a power source other than a usb port. Just using it as a backup drive for CAD files. I picked the red color because it is easy to find.

Very Unreliable Hard Drive

Jonathan Browning, Amazon
22 December 2011
  • Summary: I have purchased a number of different hard drives in the past few years. We make short films and need external hard drives that can be passed from the Director of Photography to the Editor to the Color Correctionist, etc. etc.

not very reliable

obachan, CA, Amazon
13 November 2011
  • Summary: I purchased eGO 500GB drive as a 2nd backup drive. It worked OK with very minimum use (connected once a month to update files) for almost one year. It started showing error when I erase or copy files. I tried to chkdsk or format but it failed with error messages.

Not Worth the Risk

Super Geek, Amazon
30 August 2011
  • Summary: I'm relatively new to the use of external hard drives, and I must say, my first one was a big let down. I purchased this ruby red Iomega eGo hard drive just over a month ago. Within two weeks, it failed on me.
