Excerpt: I've been using G-Tech drives for 5+ years and find them to be incredibly reliable and fast. This model finally did away with the external power brick, so kudos to G-Tech. But it is a big drive on my desktop.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity, Quiet
Excerpt: I actually just got this drive so I can't speak on longevity. However, While looking for some backup drives for archiving original video files I decided to give G-Technologies a shot. Construction: The build is solid and I like the look. I saw another poster mention the light on the front under the logo is a little distracting. It is a little bright and could be a little less distracting. Very minor issue though. I also have the Lacie d2 Thunderbolt.
Pros: Accurate Specs, Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Solid Build
Excerpt: So far the drive is working well. It is louder then my Seagates, which I typically purchase. I had stopped using G-Tech drives because my last experience was not good. The cases were bent. There was clearly a manufacturing problem as multiple drives rocked back and forth on a known flat surface. I purchased a 3TB USB3/Thunderbolt G-Tech drive at the same time. These are being used as a temporary solution to a problematic RAID setup I have.
