"Clickfree C2N 1TB - Too good to be true than it is."
10 April 2012
Pros: When it works properly then to back up simply plug and play. Compared to some previous external hard drives which I have had the chance of losing my entire data is probably less.
Cons: I ran out of space, and think it is important that people are aware of Clickfree problems 1/2 star-Couldn't select no star If data gets corrupted due to a virus it is possible to lose entire data with only 1 backup, which most people don't realize
Summary: The description gives me the impression that I simply connect this once to the laptops I want to backup and then ClickFree handles it from there. That simply is not true. This device has to be connected to a host computer in order to work. What I wanted and what the description implied to me what a device that would operate wireless on it's own. I have two laptops - I don't want to tie up one laptop all the time at the desk. I am sending it back.
Summary: I bought the C2N Home Backup Drive in April 2011. In my experience, Clickfree simply does not deliver on its promise of "automatic back up". Virtually nothing to do with the automatic part actually works. The support staff are easy to reach and do try to help. They apparently will spend as much time as you can stand giving you technical support on the phone but their product is still a piece of doo-doo.
Summary: The backup seems to work, but every time the computer shuts down I have to reload the software. Also, it seems to have caused a problem with bluetooth. I keep getting an error message fro Tuxera NTFS even though it seems to be working. I wouldn't recommend it for use with a MAC.
Summary: This product implies that you can hook this up via network and have all of your computers backed up via network. However, on arrival the unit did not have a network jack for me to hook it up. This device must be connected to a computer via USB and this is the ONLY connection method. As long as this computer stays on, it then has network abilities. I was very disappointed since you have to keep that computer on and plugged in to the unit. This is going back.
Summary: Terrible performance. It took over 4 hours to back up less than 40GB of a system. This isn't the cloud, this is a USB cable in a USB 2.0 port on the same computer. Completely unacceptable. Takes over entire system resources every time the system starts. I'm going to gparted this sucker and make it a really expensive external hard drive. Don't buy. Get a real backup system. Tried to install on a workstation without a USB port and tech support said it couldn't be done.
"Worst 'product' ever! Erased 10% of my saved bookmarks."
31 October 2011
Pros: Nice clean/simple look.
Cons: DELETED 10%+ OF MY SAVED BOOKMARKS. *NOT EVEN LOCATED IN CLICK-FREE B/U's*. (therefore NOT BACKED UP) Gave clickfree b/u's a total of three chances and all three times have resulted in lost/deleted bookmarks. ...BAD!
