Summary: I wish they still sold these. They are amazing, and I haven't found a drive that is equal yet.
Pros: I have had it for over 4 year and yes i managed to fill it up... The eSATA is amazing my benchmark puts it at a steady 78MB/s but windows thinks its getting over 200 for small files. It is built well, dissipates heat, quite (unlike so WD drives that sound like they are making coffee), and always ...
Cons: In the 4+ years of owner ship on 2 occasions it gave a "Drive cannot be read, drive is corrupt and needs to be formatted" error. But all i did way unplug everything and waited a few mins and it worked fine again for another year before needed to be unplugged again.
Pros: I bought four of these drives to use in a RAID 5 array, and they are rock solid! The case is sturdy and looks pretty sharp. I also love that they have a hardware power switch on them, which makes matinance of the array easier. I've had no problems from any of them. I would certainly recommend
Cons: LED can be a tad bright sometimes, but I think that's the case with anything these days. I just turned them to the wall.
Summary: Found out that if the computer is on and you try to connect the drive using just the eSATA cable it causes the computer to crash. However, if you plug in the USB cable first, then the eSATA cable, it works just fine. Already have the drive half full...
Pros: Works just fine, that sound that I mentioned hasn't shown any signs of being a problem.
Summary: It just started this about 3 days ago... After about 45 min of the drive not being used, it makes the same sound (sort of a 'chirrupp' sound) as it does when I shut down my computer with the drive still on. Is this possibly the drive giving signs of failure?
Summary: I understand that you can have things happen with any electronics, especially storage devices. I have a WD drive that had mixed reviews, but mine works fine 3 yr later. I even take it around places sometimes. I bought this drive to replace that one. Now i'm going for 2tb instead of 1tb.
Pros: The overall packaged contents were nice, cables seemed to be of good quality. That's all I can think of good to say
Cons: faulty out of the box, read a lot of mixed reviews. Was really worried about buying the drive. Decided that I would go and do it. Plug in, and just starts beeping at me. I read the manual and it even says in there, "if loud noises occur, device is defective. Contact our tech support immediately" ...
Summary: Contains a HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C. This drive is sold separately on Newegg as Item#: N82E16822145304. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145304) Plugged in the power, plugged in the eSATA cables, turned on the drive, waited 5 sec for Windows to install the drivers, and it...
Pros: 1TB external drive eSATA USB Runs at SATA II speeds (3.0Gb/s)
Pros: I USE THIS DRIVE WHEN I NEED TO DO A QUICK BACKUP FOR SYSTEM WORK JUST IN CASE. WHEN I'M DONE I DELETE EVERYTHING AND WAIT FOR THE NEXT NEED. WAS ORIGINALY PURCHASED AS A DIREC...TV DVR EXTENDER BUT I CHANGED TO A RAID 1 SETUP. HAS WORKED WONDERFULY
Summary: I have had this HD for two years without a single issue. I have left it powered on and connected for about 20 solid months. No overheating, great at streaming music and movies from computers and on a network.
Pros: Fast upload and download. Quick recognition on new computers. Stays nice and cool to the touch. Like being able to use eSata and USB. Metal casing is strong and durable.
Cons: The blue light is a little bright. Hid behind my monitor. The metal casing that makes it strong, also makes it a bit heavy. Not great for transporting around often.
Summary: The stand looks like it is not useful. But when I actually put it on the stand, I realized it is more useful than it looks.
Pros: 1TB storage for $80 WITH a solid and decent eSATA cord, USB2 cord and even a eSATA bracket for those who do not have one. Very quiet. Runs cool. Much smaller than my old 2007 250GB external HDD model. Runs at the speed of an average internal hard drive with comparable seek times.
Cons: Blue power light is nice but this item combines both the "always on" power light with the HDD activity light. Makes it hard to see if the activity light is working. Maybe it is something with eSATA, but this does not turn off with the computer. I have to manually turn off.
