not useful for me

Christopher K. Koenigsberg, Amazon
26 July 2014
  • Summary: Disclaimer: I am reviewing a unit I received for free, through the Vine program. Well I'm not sure how useful this actually is. For me, not so much. For you, maybe, depending on your needs. As an external hard drive it's pretty expensive for only 1 TB. But it's intended as a wireless streaming media server. But you need a special app to be able to view the content streaming from it.

Failed

Jackie, Amazon
18 May 2014
  • Summary: Purchased this drive Aug 2013, used it to backup my MacBook Pro with time machine. I'd use it to back about a 2 or 3 times a month. Just failed, very disappointed. It was working fine last week. Plugged it in a week later, blue light came on and nothing, not showing up on the desktop. Not sure what the warranty is but typically it's 3 years for these devices.

Not PC/Mac compatible out of box

anastim, Amazon
6 April 2014
  • Summary: I rarely review products, but this time I felt compelled to write. I purchased the Buffalo PCFU3 (1 TB) with the intent of backing up all of my wife's and my music and important files. She uses a mac at home and at work and I use a PC for both, so it was important for us to share a drive that was innately compatible with both. I should have done more research as it turns out that such a thing doesn't really exist, or does only with limitations.

Crapped Out On Me

ashb, Amazon
16 February 2014
  • Summary: At first I loved this hard drive. I got it on sale, it was sleek and uber portable with 1 TB of storage. I'm a photographer and store tons of photos so this drive was a back up to the original back up. About a month ago it started beeping and not showing up on my computer. I changed the USB cable but nothing happened, it still beeped and fizzled out. After trying to make it work for a few weeks I've completely given up on it and am now searching for another hard drive.

Don't trust it for essential data

Crystal in Florida, Amazon
6 December 2013
  • Summary: Very temperamental from the first time I used it. I used this to store my photo and video library, and will sometimes get a message that the folder is inaccessible, or other corruption-type message, then have to spend hours fixing it without losing my data. I don't trust it for my important files anymore, and store those files elsewhere now.
