Excerpt: My second Buffalo external hard drive that is faster than the DDR 3TB I have. Fairly easy to set up, but with password which is good. Automatically shuts down after idling and needs to be unlocked, which can be a pain.
Excerpt: This unit is twice as small as my Lacie 1TB that I purchased 2 years ago and a million times faster. Very quiet. I can barely hear it compared to my Lacie's. So far it is a good unit especially for the price. Can't really beat it.
Summary: Very glad I bought this drive. Some reviews state that it is noisy. I can't hear it unless I put my ear next to it. As for no 'on-off' switch: If this drive is connected to PC directly, and the ECO manager is installed, drive will sleep as you set the varies options for it, and will turn itself off...
Summary: The first one arrived and after plugging it into the wall and then the hard drive followed by the USB cable to the hard drive and the PC, the fan began to hum and then stopped. No lights, lit up--blue or green.
Excerpt: Appreciate having a large capacity fast backup drive. Moving up to USB 3.0 was definitely worth it; actually seeing up to 5x speed increase relative to USB 2.0. Only drawback is that the supplied cable is quite short.
