I like it because after 15 months, it's still alive! :)
15 June 2014
Summary: Seriously, I read all the "died after 8 months, 15 months etc" and go "aww, too bad." Been with PC for 30 years and today's HD is as reliable as ever, the technology is mature, there is really nothing to break, but of course bad luck always creeps in. OK 6/2014 and this thing is $199! GASP! I believe I paid like $150 (2TB) 15 months ago, don't these gadgets get cheaper over time?
Excerpt: I thought I was buying a portable external drive that could be connected via USB. This product needs an electrical outlet and the USB to download and save work. I haven'[t even tried it so I cannot comment on how it works. It is going back because it isn't what I want.
Summary: I use this all the time with my 3.0 ports to back up files and it's fast and reliable, I've never used any software with it so I can't comment on that, Windows 7 recognizes it every time very quickly. I've had other Buffalo drives and they all work great, I will definitely use them in the future, this was a great purchase.
Summary: I bought this drive to plug into my existing Buffalo 2TB NAS at home. I simply powered it up and connected it to the USB port on the back of my Buffalo NAS and instantly got another 2TB of storage capacity on my NAS which I used to back up 4 laptops on a schedule.
Summary: Used it less than 5-X for backups. Went to plug it in last night. Power will NOT come on!! Buffalo offered to send me a new power supply but I don't think that's the problem. I liked Buffalo's Wireless Router, but I would NOT buy a Buffalo backup drive again!
Excerpt: I have bought 4 other external hard drives and bought this one to replace one of them. It was plug and play- one note, the light doesn't go on until you plug in both the power cord and the USB- you can't check to see if it is working by only plugging in the power. Extremely quiet, fast, and responsive!!!
Pros: All The Right Apps, Attractive Design, Compact, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity, Portable, Quiet
Excerpt: Very easy to set up - a reformat needed for Mac users. Plug it in and it just works. The drive is not the fastest I've ever owned, but I'm using it with USB 2.0. I'm sure it'd be much faster if I had a USB 3.0 interface on my systems. My use is as a backup system for my network storage drive. I have it hooked up to the USB output of my network drive, so this drive effectively becomes an additional network drive.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity, Quiet
Excerpt: I bought this and hoped to crack open for the hard drive as someone shown on internet that a WD hard drive is inside. Honestly, I don't trust Seagate hard drives anymore after several lost in the past. When I plugged in HD Tune Pro to benchmark and it detected a Seagate ST2000DM001... Oh well, times will tell if I've ever picked a lemon again.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity
