Simple solution to using SATA drive with bonus USB ports!
7 December 2014
Summary: Pros: Simple to use (PnP) Good price SATA capale 4 USB ports for extension Self Powered Cons: Plasticky feel Why USB B plug? Summary: I use a 500gb SATA drive docked on this Aluratek as music storage. Works great. I like the added expansion capabilities of 4 USB ports. Overall for the $29.99, it is well worth it.
Summary: I have an old 500gb SATA internal HDD. Using it as a media storage. Works great. Has additional USB ports for adding other USB devices. I like that it also has an eSATA cable too. Great value.
Summary: I hooked it up to my PVR, it saw it as soon as it was plugged in. With the 1 TB Hard Drive I installed, it gives me a lot of space to record programs something like 699hrs. I works well for me.
Pros: Works well, easy to hook-up, Extra USB connectors.
Cons: dust cover sits at an angle with thin hard drives.
Summary: I have 3 harddrives that I use with this. Swapping very occasionally. 1 hardrive worked but then it started coming up with not recognized and may have corrupt files. I lost a lot of files, which I'm not that worried about. Just a heads up for other people. There are a couple other reviews saying the same thing.
Summary: bought this to use as an external backup device for my htpc instead of the other connector i bought a few months ago! i was using a WD scorpio black 2.5 750gb drive as a gaming backup internally but decided to use as an external drive instead to save room in my case hooked it up yesterday to backup my gaming saves and win7 recognized drive & win7 saw it as an external drive - i had this hooked up usb!
Summary: I don't do automated-and-often full drive backups, but manual ones once a week or so, so I don't need some massive dedicated external backup drive. My laptop has only three USB ports, and they're rather weak, plus I use an external USB keyboard and USB mouse. This was just the thing for me.
