Summary: I have owned 2 of these drives for about 2 years now. One has had a faulty fan since the first month I bought it. It makes a horrendous noise. If I smack the drive the noise will change, but eventually comes back. My girlfriend makes me turn it off at night because it is so loud and annoying.
Summary: Had it for a week. Using it with an iMac for Time Machine firewire backups. The computer recognized it immediately, and said it needed reformatting before it could be used for Time Machine. I reformatted it and it has been working fine as a drive since.
Summary: I bought this product and it failed the first day, can't get to recognized on my computer. Am I to trust this tin can to back up my drive? I don t think so. Just trying to get some technical help was a nightmare as they were unresponsive to any e-mails and phone calls are put onto extended hold.
Summary: I cannot warn people off of any Acomdata product fast enough. I am trying to do my best though. I bought (2) different hard drives from them to back up my iphoto and itunes. One was fire wire and one was usb. The usb failed about 13 month after I bought it.
Summary: Good value, lot's of memory for the money. But, noisy fan runs all of the time, even with the computer shut down. AcomData say's that it is suppose to run all the time. My AcomData 360, shut's down with the computer.
Summary: So there was a problem when setting it up with 10.5.X. Called customer service, they were friendly and helped me out quickly. Simple steps to save everyone time (wish it was on their website): - Disk Utilities - Select drive - Select Partition tab - Set Number of Partitions - Click on "Options" -...
Summary: The Firewire & RAID combination gives this drive an edge over the competition in the same price range. It is definitely faster than the Iomega Prestige 1.5TB (which sells for the same price) when connected on a Firewire 400 port. Newer Macs have Firewire 800, so expect an even better performance.
Great HD for the money, perfect movie server for Mac Mini
4 April 2009
Summary: Excellent hard drive for the money. My only gripe was the fan noise. I've decided to take the fan out and it is very quiet now. The HD powers down on its own when not in use so there isn't much heat. I am using it for a movie server with my Mac Mini.
Summary: Well, its too bad the reviewer below didn't realize that the drive comes with a cd, which the user manual is on in PDF Adobe. If he had opened that, he would have realized there is a protocol for mounting this drive especially with Macs.
